Required reading for all student-y, university people. On The Road's gotta be the king, right?
Down and Out in Paris and London
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Wind-up Bird Chronicle
The Crying of Lot 49
something by J.G. Ballard
just edges out On The Road I reckon...
Bonus points if they subsequently become a total NARC after uni, having preached this book's message for the previous 3 years
but Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas maybe? although a lot of people know it more through the film which is even more disheartening.
and yeah besides that On the Road and Catcher in the Rye are spot-on, although catcher in the rye is a more effective read in your mid/late teens so i'd hope people would have read it already and then bought it along to university to have in their room to show how well-read they are and that.
Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas
On The Road
Catcher In The Rye
...is basically my 'favourite book' list. But I'm nearly 26, should I be worried?
Just the right balance of geekyness and philosophy
