Can't decide how to organise things. In terms of whether you keep music, etc. separate from other things.
Small-ish partition for OS
Large partition for documents, mp3, videos etc.
everything in one huge mess
It's *ordnance survey.
Laptop: 1 x partition with Vista on it, and all docs in Shared Docs and shared over my WLAN. 1 x partition with the restore stuff on it. The way it came. Worked nicely when I recently restored it to factory settings.
Netbook: 1 x ~20GB partition with XP on it. 1 x ~20GB partition with Ubuntu on it. 1 x rest of the HDD partition, with the root shared across my WLAN, pretty much used exclusively for storage of music.
Except sometimes I just connect my Juniper9 to the mainframe and julio my dongle repeatedly.
Seems to work fine.

One folder for Windows OS files.
And another folder with every other file on the computer in it.
Keeps things simple.
...and installed progs, yeah?
I was being facetious - there are more than two folders on my computers. But if you really want to know:
Laptop - 1 HD split into two partitions:
OS, Apps and docs: 70G
Slug for everything else: 70G
Desktop - 3 HDs, no partitions:
HD1 250GB: OS, installed apps
HD2 1.5TB: Movies, TV and other media.
HD3 500GB: Slug for backup, rendering and bullshit.
Sorry for being gay.
Note, make sure that while the discs are the same size they aren't all the same manufacturer since defects leading to failures are often seen in a particular instance of a particular model in a particular window of time.
If he's done all that on a laptop he's in a land where bamos' ideas about computers make sense.
Wasn't paying full cross-thread attention.
