Not sure yet what I will be doing, hopefully it is nothing too gruesome.I don't want to be put off eating meat.
I want pictures!
though it was a cafe attached to the abattoir, which I guess is quite orrid in itself.
where Reece works in a meat factory.
you might get a book deal
not so bad, mainly watching piles of ham and corned beef go by and picking out the great chunks of yellow stuff
I was a vegetarian already though...
fatty deposits probably YUMBO
Presuming you are/were vegetarian for ethical reasons of course...
wouldn't have shut down the meat industry...it was an agency job so you basically went where they sent you
at the time I needed the money for uni so...
suggest they aren't failures. Not like they're sat on their behinds all day wanking and betting on the horses is it ?
It was very repetitive and usually leaves you day dreaming for most of your work day...Only job I could get this summer and I only have it for a few weeks, hopefully I will be able to stick it.
8.30 - Meat Factory
9.15 - Hairnet, wellies and white overalls
10.00 - Great Chunks Of Yellow Stuff
see you there!
don't let the name throw you Jimmy. It's not really a floor, it's more of a steel grating that allows material to sluice through so it can be collected and exported.
It's a bank holiday here in Ireland. Will get a few pictures of the mentals don't you worry, I might even make them put on a show for me.
Just loads of packing packaged meat into boxes, not really much mental people at all.
Working with loads of old polish women who know fuck all english.I am also the only person that seems to go to the smoking shed, I was hoping this would give me a chance to get to know people.
hours are from 07:30 till 16:45...pretty long day.
How many albums have you sung to yourself, in full, from start to finish? Is it cold as fuck? Do you wear wellies? Did they rip you by making you pay up a deposit for your wellies? Do you have a jacket thingy? What colour?
Reminds me of my stint in a sandwich factory. I did the early shift Sun-Thur cos it was fewer hours than the Mon-Fri dayshift, but for more money cos the Sun paid double. And then a summer spent packing caulis, paid on piecework rates. "Good" times.
Albums sang to myself: little, I have had a song from the lion king stuck in my head all day for some reason.... not allowed listen to music, although one of the guys shown me a ipod he had fitted into his earmuffs, genius.
It is very cold, working in a fridge sometimes.
Not sure if there is a deposit yet for the wellies.
Did factory work before, It can be good fun if you get on with the people you work with.I just can't wait till my paycheck, I'm kind of happy with myself that I didn't sign on....
I'm going back to college.
