I hate having to go into guitar shops and ask for shit, so as soon as I found a "brand" I ask for them all the time.

then yes, in fact I would recommend it in all cases except if you use one of those Rare Earth pickups.
If you're talking a Spanish style nylon strung guitar then it won't work.
I'd start with 11s with a wound G-String, though, as bronze-wound acoustic strings are very heavy to give you a better sound. 10s or lighter in electric strings will give you a very weedy sound.
It sounds slightly different but here are my reasons:
- If your guitar is using a standard pickup then bronze strings won't get picked up as well, meaning less bass response
- It's easier to play, meaning you'll play better
- They last a lot longer than bronze strings, which quickly degrade.
Bronze wound strings are gash.
