once he said it twice in a show!
doesn't really work
Did you know it's reMUNeration and not reNUMeration?
That blew my mind a couple of years back.
2 in one day i cant handle.
I still don't know about this one.
i can't believe that 'think' is the older, correct usage. amazing.
Thing sounds better. As does tenderhooks.
Unless you're one of those twats that uses 'anythink'.
Which I know you are, at heart.
thing makes no sense
I wont say it though, it's ridiculous.
I DO NOT MEANT TO THIS YOUR POST. THING MAKES SENSE! THINK DOESN'T.
i'm on tenterhooks.
you will see I prefer thing but I have reason to believe think is correct. Bamos, I am NOT agreeing with John as my earlier post will prove. Thank you.
'You've got another thing coming if you think that etc.'
i.e. expect another tirade if you etc.
it's 'if you think that, you've got another think coming' GET THINKING THE NEW THINK 'CAUSE YOUR OLD THINK IS WRONG.
which is obviously terrible grammar but it makes sense. Whereas 'another thing coming'? WHAT 'THING' ARE YOU REFERING TO?
Things come and go all the time. Look, here's, I dunnno, a fucking LORRY and a SNOWDROP and A MASSIVE FLYING AXE. All THINGS, all COMING YOUR WAY.
Ooh, a flying think. YEAH, GOOD ONE.
whereas you have had a first 'think' or 'thought' so it's possible to have another 'think' or 'thought' coming. i.e. you're going to get corrected/find out the truth/realise you're wrong/ETC.
do i mean a noun? what even is a noun? a thing? or a think?
he researched it proper like, case closed.
that makes sense. for years i've been saying "cussclosed". thought it was the past participle of dissclosed or something.
Yours, Hagar The Grammatical.
but it's think - it appeared in print before thing, a great many times, and appears to have changed through determination of mispronouncing it.
it refers to a punishment/argument or something similar.
So it's in effect: If you think 'A', then you will face another 'B', from me.
is that the good people of phrases.org.uk are retards.
I'm not having it
and I can't actually justify my previous point of view of 'thing' being correct when I sit down and try to write it out. He's right. We're all cretins.
and i certainly wont be changing the way i use it.
if they saw her on the street, but didn't say hello.
I spent the best part of 25 years saying ‘when a man is tired of Londeaux, he is tired of life’
It's about horses.
suddenly afford a squid in a jar.
take a slang word for a pound coin and a pint glass and inferred you're an erotic dancer.
Jokes are funnier when you have to open up the hood and show the internals
I often stick my head in a sink full of plates when I'm feeling tired and need reinvigorating.
When I can't get hold of any ecstasy I grab a spoon and go march out to the ditch for a drink
First Kendal Mint Cake. Now this.
"of" and "'ve". Sometimes I hear people really enunciating the wrong one, and it makes me want to punch them in their throats.
"Now, you might of been thinking: what's the point?"
I MIGHT HAVE BEEN THINKING YOU'RE FIRED YOU FUCK
last week I retweeted something by Richard Herring, where he had written "kind've" instead of "kind of" :D
Unfortunately I forgot that Twitter allows famous people to see what you are writing, and then he sent me a message back and I felt embarrassed :'D
realising it was 'chest of drawers', not 'chester drawers'...
it made me fume
Annoying little fucker, he was.
did you kill him?
Pulled his hamstring. The one in his FACE.
It just sounded RIDICULOUS. It's strange how when children say words incorrectly they very often say the same thing. I forget what my other examples but I was going to start a thread on this a while back. I mean it doesn't sound like chimley but so many kids say it that way.
I don't really know where I'm going with this and I have work to do.
and carried on for ages after I knew which was correct because I got laughed at by my parents and I'm quite stubborn and thought by continuing to use'mountain' and ignore their corrections and jokes they might perhaps start to doubt themselves.
A similar thing happened over my 'roughsack'. Which makes perfect sense to me.
A very pointy mountain.
I still get really wound up if my mum reminds me of the STUPID way I said things.
My best mate when I was a kid said that. Chimley. And keckle instead of kettle. It was his mum's fault. FUCKING KECKLE?!
my Wigan friends say any word involving a double t with a ck. Bockle of beer.
I thought it was that until I was like 13 :(
I also love the photo.
keep on posting it.
I LOVE that.
I didn't reply to my own post.
I always thought that a wallet was a 'wallap'
A rottweiler was a 'rockweiler'
to spite your face
"When I was younger, I used to think a self-portrait was a picture you did of yourself."
or you've replied in the wrong place.
I should of thought of that, really.
why so many replies in a "meths get's something wrong" thread.
Do I need to read this?
when a thread about something pretty innocuous reaches 150 replies...
Potato as Batato.
FRICKIN OVER EDUCATED MUPPET CHEF.
Everything else he does is fine though x
I say Bebeto
And we're out.
I've clicked on every single one of these. Each time I have chuckled heartily. Good work sir.
I like it better.
What's disturbing is that we were talking about either.
I forget why, exactly. It's probably for the best.
with her third child because it crapped in her. Which category would this come under?
Although if she hadn't had a hysterectomy the child number would be correct.
I counted wrong, it was actually her fourth child and she has five.
This happened on her own birthday as well.
As in "You own me a tenner."
I've corrected her countless times but she just can't cut it short.
It's very annoying.
This bugs me about you.
None of them know the difference between borrow and lend!
NO MATCHES FOUND?
but for some reason this makes him fucking retarded.
"oh, i thought i writ that down".
wrote. not writ. what the fuck.
other moments of stupidness
"that band slipknock"
"im going to go and lawn the mow"
"sort it out, have you got "old timer's" or something" (he meant alzheimer's)
"that band the food fighters"
he also likes mumford and sons and the kevin bishop show.
