American Apparel's dress code for staff is revealed:
makes me want to shoplift from them.
Half the males there seem to be wearing AA stuff.
I had to commute today wearing a Spongebob Squarepants t-shirt.
Clearly, it's time for a change. An American Apparel change.
Those massive ear-plugs metallers wear.
They always pick Rachel Bilson
For the boys it's like:
he's my hero
Some fucking people
They had topless buff men standing by the door. It was really hard not to laugh out loud.
I did think it was odd when I applied (was 16, didnt know what AA was etc) for the new shop in glasgow and they asked for a photo, but from that article I match the description.
You know, no branding, no 'gauges', no hair product.
But so does everyone
SO WHERE WAS MY FUCKING JOB
FUCK THIS MAn
i know a few people who work there and various people who have the new look have been sacked. apparently they are going from sexy/bodycon stuff to a preppier look.
I have no idea what "bodycon" means...
some of the staff in the manchester branch are hella plain looking but very well dressed.
don't care about dress codes for staff - that is cool/standard.
the direction they're moving in is going to produce hella nice clothes.
people who moan about other people caring about what they wear/their personal appearance/where they choose to shop = insufferably boring. unless it's me doing the moaning.
some of their new clothes actually look really good. They're not skin tight. They're just nice.
Still too expensive though.
WHEN I APPLIED TO WORK THERE WHEN I WAS 16 AND DIDNT KNOW HAVE I TOLD YOU
theres an ami app in Toulouse. Gonna be a good year next year. Think I chose the right city.
get a job there.
hot french hipsters. with no bangs or makeup (m&f). wow.
is as absolutely horrid as American Apparel, criticism is more than justified regardless of whatever "style".
"Photos of prospective employees were to be taken and carefully scrutinized; forsaken was he or she who wore Uggs or dirty white Keds to work!"
^ if i owned some sort of fashion retailer that was pretty widely acclaimed as being ON TREND and hella cool - i wouldn't approve if people were wearing ugly clothes/stuff that didn't fit the brand aesthetic. that has nowt to do with discrimination - that's just how any workplace works - DRESS CODES
as for the ugly thing - their staff are quite good looking but no more goodlooking than the average buzzbandgigaudience. i really don't think things are as bad as this article in the UK operation anyway
CARNAGE!!! AWESOME. CARNAGE.
Also - all that stuff is clearly awful, but I think particularly the second link has pretty hugely weakened their arguments by confusing this stuff with legitimate corporate image stuff
then i realised that i've got a lightning dust t-shirt which is AA, and it's probably the best fitting t-shirt i've ever had.
the fucking shame.
people who bang on about AA or even care about it are generally a bit mongy but the t shirts are a proper good fit AND THAT'S WHAT MATTERS.
i've only been in one of them once though so i can't do valid opinions cos they looked down their nose at me for being a bit ugly and scruffy, cos i am a bit ugly and scruffy so fair enough.
and i don't know if i want to work there. but desperately want a job. its the only part time termtime job i've been offered after a year of applying with four years retail experience.
i love the clothes though.
you have makeup. and bangs. and shitloads of piercings. and plucked eyebrows. i don't understand!
also - if you don't want a part time termtime job - can you suggest me plz?
and i have actually have no facial piercings and my hair covers the ones on my ears. and also i don't actually pluck my eyebrows. i'm a shit lazy woman.
plus i was wearing a lot of aa plus im not fat any more.
and no i won't suggest you i NEED a job. i actually hope i get it cos other than them being strict on personal appearance the lady who took my pictures seemed happy to be working there.
but you should definitely wander round the store wearing aa and try your luck! the competitions on..
no fringes for girls, no moustaches for boys, no "skanky" make-up or nail varnish,... and if anyone who has one of these defects dares come into a shop to hand in a CV, the staff are encouraged to act really rudely towards them (by mocking them, blanking them, etc. lolz).
whenever the shop's sales dip a little the staff are all lined up and have their photos sent to Dov Charney so that he can fire the supposedly ugly ones.
oh, and, people who put on weight were fired.
</potentially libelous post??1//1?!?1/1/!?!!??! idk>
gonna use this as as excuse why i've not got a summer job, innit.
continues to thrive and turn over a profit. Saying that they seem to be fairly nice to the people that work in their factories.
to blanket their stores with cv's on a certain day.
FEEL THE FORCE OF OUR PAPER
would be to buy up as much openly branded AA clothes as you can carry, and then hand them out to fuglies on condition that they hang around the shop for an hour or two.
