wild strawberries: decent. i think i expected too much.
persona: amazing...absolutely amazing. best bergman film i've seen so far.
elvira madigan: same as wild starwberries..i think i expected too much. decent watch like, some nice moments...and obviously, Pia Degermark is the most beautiful person to have ever been committed to celluloid...just bloody look at her
virgin suicides: not bad...some nice touches. the bit where they play records over the phone is sublime...but not sure it really holds up the whole way. feels a bit patchy.
the brown bunny: this was so close to being a masterpiece...so bloody close. but the final encounter ruins things. the blow-job isn't even the problem, and i can just about handle the twist...but the dialogue between the two is fucking absurd. there's about as much chemistry between gallo and sevigny as there is between two lumps of coal or summit. they were obviously improvising and it all just turned into a soggy mess...if that final encounter were able to sustain and build on everything that had gone before, it would've been a fucking triumph, but it just completely deflates. real, real shame. cinematography is some of the best of the last decade though....absolutely amazing. the boy gallo knows how to shoot a picture.
