so fucking pointless.
when i slowly brighten the room my cat gets scared and her ears flatten against the side of her head and she yowls and i rofl.
i only discovered them when i was about fifteen or something. i must have led a life that was sheltered as fuck! how could you dislike them, i mean, oh my god you can create mood lighting and just before bed dim lighting and full whack lighting for special occasions like reading harry potter novels with a mug of cocoa.
"dinner switches". that didnt make sense to me at all...
anyways, i disagree. i prefer less lighting than most, so a dimmer allows for compromise. plus, on and off are too black and white. i prefer to live in the grey.
I thought it was like a mix tape swap but with dinners and you had to have whatever the other person was going to have for their dinner.
Obviously it's not that. But someone should do that. And we should have photographic evidence. Jesus Christ I might actually do that myself. It's like a spin off thread and a hilarious activity all rolled in to one brilliant idea.
would it be random people switching dinners, or is it a group like in potluck situations?
immediately after I put Grace by Jeff Buckley on?
Low energy light bulbs that work in them are so expensive it's not even worth trying. We have them all over this flat. :(
i have two light switches in my room, the main one by the door as you come in, and then another by the bed. the one by the bed isn't a dimmer switch, i can never be bothered to walk to the door, so like.. it's just pointless.
it's quite simple
Newer dimmer switches work perfectly fine with low energy light bulbs, aren't that expensive and further reduce your energy consumption.
They are also very, very chic.
I can tell you that they either blow up low energy bulbs (£6 well spent on that bright one) or make them flicker and buzz annoyingly.
You can get special ones for dimmer switches but they're a pain and you have to get them online.
but i spend my life in theatres so i expect mood lighting even when i'm watching the news.
I also have one in my room now...i like it for when I'm watching films....Different light for different films.
they are the best!
let's dim, let's dim away...
they take ages to turn on if you don't do it right, and then i use them on full blast anyway. Of course i have them in the bathroom, which is even more pointless.
it could provide an atmosphere for a relaxing bath.
