has the same name, is in the same age range and lives in the same town as a freelancer I'm quite friendly with. I'm now fairly sure that it's not the person I know, so this morning seems a little better. For me, that is.
if I'm back in the house by 11am, do I need to put suncream on before I go out? I remember 11-4 being the peak burning times, or is this bollocks?
but I can tell you than the sun being overhead means the radiation is more intense at ground level due to the fact the distance through the atmosphere is less than when the sun is at lower angle on the horizon
how that affects your skin I can only guess
I thought that it was more to do with the fact that the same amount of radiation would be spread out over a larger area (in an elipse/oval)when the sun's at an angle and therefore less intense than to do with distance travelled through the atmosphere.
I guess it could be both. Or I could be talking bollocks.
it's atmosphere thickness
I'm going to sit on the grass outside at lunch time and read my book. I can't wait. I LOVE the summer.
I wish it was dark.
I go a bus though! My first Manchester bus after 18 months of living here. I was really pleased with how it went :)
You lucky sod, getting a nice drive in the sun.
I get to watch parking wardens clamping/towing soft tops on king street though! (yes, i've decided that today is best performed from the window sofa instead of desk).
I was in the mood for staying out but also not in the mood for buses and taxis.
Where did you go?
Are you around this weekend?! (Probably asked you this but I'm a lightweight and don't remember anything much after a few sips of wine)
It will magically reappear in the right place once I hit reply...
Went to meet my friend who's a partner in a lawfirm and was giving me advice on Should I Stay or Should I Go. (she said stay- WHAT DOES SHE KNOW).
I then got kidnapped by Shameless and Johnboy, but I didn't dance on the bar. All in all a semi-success?
I'm ni London/ Dorset for teh weekend, but porbably back late afternoon Sunday for a friend's birtdhay party- let me know if you're up for some sunday action.
I can see what looks like silver shooting stars from the edge of my eyes by the way- is this my retina detatching?
I think your retinas need to have a little sleep on that sofa of yours.
I don't feel too fabulous and I just spotted the longest most horrid looking pube on the cubicle floor. It's made me feel a bit queasy.
It's a sodding open plan office- that's one good thing about the new job..... Proper old school private offices with desks you can sleep on/under :D OH, I've also just remembered I haven't even told J about the job stuff yet. I should probably call him (assuming he's no longer having his "duvet day").
He's hurt his back 'somehow'. The dirty dog.
I've got to drive to Leeds in a bit in the nice sunshine. And sit indoors all day.
Went to a cool gig in Manc last night with some peopel from here. The Acorn, Race Horses, Emmy the Great, Beth Jeans Houghton, and Field Music all played. T'was good.
but it's looking like theweather will be lovely for the rage gig, so i'm not too fed up
I'm in a bad mood today but the weather is nice.
so i'm £250 less than what I should have been paid. I'm utterly skint.
I actually want to cry....I'M HOLDING IT IN. I will NOT cry at my desk!
Firstly, don't cry (in fact, for god's sake, after yesterday's thread, DON'T CRY!) :)
If this underpayment means you breach any banking covenants (overdraft interest or charges, other late payments etc) then they ought to cover this for you when they top up your wage. There is a statute I think, just can't remember what it's called. Oh yes, the Emlpoyment Rights Act! An aptly named piece of legislation I think.
Thank heavens they have corrected the problem and put the extra money in my bank....I was close to crying but I resisted! I'm a strong woman.
Thanks for your advice though! You know your stuff :) x
Which is nice.
I had a warm chocolatey flatbread thing for breakfast.
Which was also nice.
Nice mornin', huh?
tiny rabbit poos wedged into the pits of a soft ryvita bread. But I'll take your word for it. Either way, it was tasty as. AND I WILL NOT LET YOU RUIN MY 'FRIDAY'.
hope we get days like this next week, i'll be working on the 7th floor and it has great views already but with the sky like it is today? woweeee.
Yeah, its pretty great
I accepted a pretty great PhD offer, and now can just chill this summer.
I felt like some chocolate milk this morning and went out and got it. I also got some strawberry milk. WHAT A LIFE.
tell me about it.
Nah, but Im getting to use some physics techniques (laser splitting and crystallography boo ya!) in the project, which is very exciting.
What im going to do is biomolecular oncology, looking at cancer cell pathways startng from the genomics to the proteomics and metabolic pathways - how they all integrate - with the hope of developing some novel drugs. Pretty exciting (for me at least).
Actually > toffee milk! This will help my self-imposed dehydration, yes? (you are my new science-man btw, and please note the lack of coconut water chat.)
I may caddy/ hold up the 19th hole, as the idea of swinging a golf club in the vicinity of my boss is conjuring up all sorts of delicious macabre possibilities.
I was going to say, or something like that. I don't know anymore.
I can swing a club with a terrifying look on my face though.
It definitely helps in law. I hate that about law/business. I haven't even made an effort to get good, as i'll still be the massively handicapped female, so I just aim to have good jokes and wear short shorts which get me banned form the clubhouse.
I was surprised to look at my clock and see it's only ten, not eleven, so I've only wasted one hour on the internet today. so so good.
I'm not even going to let that bowlcutted tetanus-dancing afterbirth in the Drums rollover ad ruin it.
Might go and do the old 'walk around with a bit of paper looking confused' trick out in the sun later.
Today I am going for coffee, newspaper reading and chat at a local eatery then doing some work on some songs possibly in a cafe too then playing football on the lawns overlooking the sea.
Tonight I will probably drink whiskey and watch a film, I have 'The White Ribbon" apparently its great anyone seen it?
Also this morning I finally succumbed to Spotify and am now indulging in an overdue Magik Markers session as I lost Boss a while ago.
very atmospheric, and beautifully filmed
I might have to get one.
i'm working today, and the last 3 days have been horrendously busy and not fun at ALL so i'm expecting the same today. Not looking forward to going in. I'm working all weekend too :(:(
Fingers crossed that the weather holds out.
Expect mid-to-high-level arguing from me. FUCK TODAY.
