I'm gonna combine the two topics, coz I'm thinking about getting both done. What are your experiences of either of them?
Bet you really thought this thread had taken off really quickly
Eyes: Have crap-at-focusing but otherwise (so far) healthy eyes. Cry aged 8 when I realise I've gotta wear glasses. Wear gas permeable contacts from about 15. Investigate the laser thing aged 21. Get squeemish, but decide to think about it again when I have the money. Recieve X amount of junkmail from the company who's intro seminar I went to for the next X years. Get to 31 and think that I can't be arsed with it cos I'm ok with lenses for the time being and the only time lenses bug me these days is for water-based acticvities, which isn't enough to justify laserisation.
from -4.25 to -3.75. I think I might be Jesus.
HOWEVER, I have a reason. Everytime you visit my dentist you get a stamp and I only need one more stamp. After 6 stamps are got you qualify for half price teeth whitening, so I thought I might aswell.
After six hefty bills I stopped going.
yeah it's fucking expensive
I couldn't see a fucking thing, it's a miracle I didn't kill anyone.
So you've had it done? Do you recommend it? I fucking hate wearing glasses and contact lenses are also annoying.
He calculated that it would probably work out to be cost effective if he didn’t need glasses for another 20 years.
He can’t recommend it enough. He’s now got 20/20 vision in both eyes and had no problems or complications at all.
so you need to go DIY, after a recommendation from bubz beauty on youtube :P (cos shes cute) I'm trying CREST WHITESTRIPS PRO EFFECT 10 Day Kit and they are working well. the gel on them is the same the dentist would use, the only diff is they would make u a gum shield and it would include all teeth not just front visible ones like these are for.
DONT MESS WITH YOUR EYES! WORDS TO LIVE BY!
by my mates g/f who is a dental hygienist so I can probably get a discount.
cos they were offering it on the cheap. maybe it was a BOGOF or something.
not really the sort of thing you wanna be scrimping on.
made it go blind. I'm not even joking either.
a friend had it done and described it in detail - urgh.
i second the crest whitestrips recommendation...but use sensodyne toothpaste as they make your teeth sensitive.
and then you use some apparently cheap liquid thing to top up the whiteness. I haven't explained this very well as i'm quite hungover. But i'd definitely recommend it.
I did ten days in casualty and on four of those days there were people whose flaps had opened up again. Their laser eye flaps had opened up again. Nice for me to look at and everything, but not cool!
I only ever see/hear about the laser eye surgery disasters so i'm not really the best person to ask. The success rate with normalish prescriptions is 95% or something.
We had a lecture about it and the only ophthalmologists in the country who've had it done have gone overseas for the operation. Fishy?
i'll just stick with wearing glasses i think
