the wit and wisdom of Liz Jones #1
''I hate those adverts for Glade air fresheners. A woman (pictured above) is at home, during the day (why is she not at work?)''
probably an evening/weekend/bank holiday or one of the other times that people aren't at work
''worrying about friends coming round for coffee (why aren't they at work?)''
probably an evening/weekend/bank holiday or one of the other times that people aren't at work
''and the fact all her cushions have not been plumped.''
no one likes an un-plumped cusion liz, you know that really...stop being facetious. us middle classes all give our homes a spruce when we have company, don't act like you don't understand.
''What does she do? Spray the air with Glade, of course, which has the effect of making her friends exclaim at the sheer perfection and loveliness of her home.
Do advertisers really believe that women behave like this? That we have nothing else to occupy us, and talk about?''
yes liz. i belive the Glade company were intending this advert to, not only sell the product, but act as a treatise on the state of modern woman.
and just to make sure that we don't think women are only obsessed with their homes, celebrities and fashion, liz does her bit for the sisterhood by including these two pieces underneath the glade gripe.
''CELEB BRAIN DEAD MOMENT OF THE WEEK
'I'm pretty comfortable with my body,' says actress Kate Hudson.
'I'm imperfect. The imperfections are there. People are going to see them, but I take the view you only live once.'
Tell us, then, why there's all this speculation about a breast enlargement!
CRIMES AGAINST FASHION
This image (below) is from the catwalk show in St Tropez for Chanel's new cruise collection for 2011.
The model's name is Alina, and while the outfit is OK, I find her jutting bones distasteful, to say the least.
Also taking part in the fashion show was Crystal Renn, the plus-size model whose extravagant beauty and raven hair put everyone else in the shade.
While I applaud the use of more diverse models, is there really a case any more for hiring girls apparently in need of a good square meal?''
