There's some excellent stuff in there :D
- If UKIP somehow get in, they'll make alcohol and cigarettes as illegal as all the other drugs. You heard it there, first.
- "Consider the prolonged campaigns to tell the public that salt is bad for them. There is little sound scientific evidence for any such campaign, since any excess salt is merely excreted harmlessly via the kidneys." = Obviously never had two spoonfuls of salt in a cup of tea...
Not when there's alternative medicine to be found! "Mind over matter", what what!
this is completely amazing.
their 'Royal Commission' might already have made up its mind on climate change. Of course this chap doesn't believe in climate change, look at the picture! It's bright outside but he's still got all the lights on!
and he's saying: any proof will be reassessed until we can say it's not actually happening.
I say we reassess gravity!
with his fingers in his ears, shaking his head side-to-side and shouting loudly "it's still the 1950s! it's still the 1950s!" to drown out the advance of time
whether UKIP's stance would be any different.
every time he mentions 'global warming'.
It's all done very straight-faced, although the author does let the mask slip every so often...
Should Britain be at the forefront of research in these areas? What benefits do you believe such research will bring for society?
Monckton's answer to this was rather quirky:
"Wherever stem cells can be obtained by means other than the killing of very small children, it is ethical only to obtain the stem cells by means that do not involve the loss of little lives."
I can only assume that this is a reference to embryonic stem cells. They are generally obtained from surplus IVF embryos, rather than by killing very small children.
this guy probably stumbled across the potential rather than understanding it, but you can get stem cells from embryonic carcinomas, and recent evidence is suggesting that you can induce or "reset" cells by changing the expression of just three genes/ transcription factors or something mental like that. You could probably de-differentiate haemopoetic progenitors from the marrow too tbh.
"killing little children" - it seems like some sort of overblown pagan respone - "WE'VE ANGERED THE GODS - SACRIFICE SOME CHILDREN TO PAY FOR OUR STEM CELL SINS!"
I dont quite know what my point it
For a couple of reasons:
1) They either believe this truly, in which case I think they are stupid, short sighted and working against our interests, or;
2) They don't believe it but think there are enough people in the electorate who do
because they only put one flyer through the postbox and that was today. That could be perceived as cutting it a bit fine and not making an effort. If you compare that with the sixhundredthousandmillion Conservative flyers we've received it is obvious who should win.
Just wait til next year and I'm about to turn 30... ;)
I wouldn't worry about it.
but as funny as the whole thing is, their stance on climate change is terrifying. They would ban 'propaganda' like An Inconvenient Truth? Do they also not believe in a free media?
that they will not commit funding until both sides have been discussed, argued for and against.
They see all the funding sent to anthropogenic climate change as a waste until it is proven that it is a good use of the money, rather than just a political tool, which it clearly is.
sounds perfectly reasonable to me
