like pulling teeth from a shark
almost Chewbaccaey. Anyone else?
Seems we're pretty much on the same page.
My Dad and I though...
My Mum is encouraging me to allow her to cast my vote using her as a proxy as she wants to know who I am voting for (and no, I am not telling her). I hate talking politics with my folks. They're the type of people who say "as long as you don't vote for that bloody Gordon Brown" and will get too excited about Cameron's proposed £3.50 tax-break for married couples.
"feels quite sorry for david cameron", would consider voting tory, wouldn't vote labour cos "all the people who just want to get free money and not work will vote for labour" and genuinely believes that the government killed princess diana. she kept saying "my gran says". she seems like such a reasonable, normal person in general... :(
My mother is a dogmatic pro-multiculturalism bleeding heart liberal and I can't talk to her about politics because her naivete starts freaking me out.
Voted for that party all their lives, and won't stop now. It stems very much from a gut instinct rather than a considered judgement, and having discussions with them about politics quickly descends into bickering and accusations of 'being ridiculous, you're just being ridiculous'.
which is good.
however, she's very anti-immigrants. like wants them to stop coming in the country completely.
in spite of the fact that the rest of his family are Labour voting automatons who have all failed to make anything of their lives.
I have voted Lib Dem and Tory and will NEVER vote.
i didnt realise it was a typoid
Seems a bit silly to rule out voting for a party unless you are able to predict the future.
if somebody had put 'I could never vote Tory'.
Hypocrisy, you love it.
mum wasn't british and dad's never voted as far as i'm aware. only arguments i remember were small ones and usually about israel.
but vote plaid in the assembly
,as i do regularly to wind her up, she goes on a rant about BLOODY THATCHER and MINERS and BEING WORKING CLASS and HOW SHE WILL DEFINITELY DISOWN ME IF I EVEN BLOODY THINK ABOUT IT and STUPID SMUG POSH TWATS.
my dad likes to think he's a big marxist and bangs on about shit lyk dat but he's fucking loaded and he won't redistribute his wealth my way so that proves he's just a massive faker.
but my mum's views appear to be scarily far right. I dont think my dad is interested. The good thing about the expense scandal though is that they've come round to hating party politics too.
my spanish grandparents are both very conservative towards uk politics because they bought a house off thatcher. Then again they wanted argentina to win the falklands and left Spain because of franco's dictatorship.
so easy enough to talk to. My dad's a far right mentalist though, very hot on social darwinisn
Fair play to them
Votes Labour, at any rate, and shares a lot of my views on the other parties.
I guess she's voting Labour. My dad didn't vote Labour once.
My parents are pretty political and in the know and stuff. My dad stood as the Labour candidate in a safe Tory seat in the '80s and did alright and got a (handwritten in felt tip lol) letter from Gordon Brown saying: well done - would you like a better seat next time?
[MY DAD COULD HAVE BEEN AN my MP]
My sister once naively said 'I thought Thatcher ruined this country....' got a right ear bashing.
