The singer sings in a grunge voice.
but feel free to leave it on here if you like, theeoh
country is at its best when people have a genuine gravel voice (chuck ragan) or weird whiny one (hank williams iii), NOT a put-on Vedder, you're right.
i'd probably quite like them (i mean, i prefer marling's own material but it'd be passable with her voice instead).
i know she used to use them as her backing band - does she still do so?
And as far as I she's still seeing a lad from Mumford & Sons, so I'd assume she is. Plus I haven't seen a single festival that either of the two are playing without the other also being on the bill.
and also live at green man a couple of years ago.
i think it was noah and the whale before (her and the whale being an item)
You can see them in the video for Ghosts and everything. She was going out with the lead singer, Charlie.
but mumford and sons were definitely her backing band by the time i saw her in august 2008. they have a member who looks like peter serafanovicz (sp?)
The album zips along fine by me. Not sure I'll be up for a second album though, because they are, admittedly, verging on being a one trick pony. But it's a decent trick, so I'm not gonna slate 'em.
Take it to the Music board innit.
WInter Winds is a belter.
"they never wrote a song as good as this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xol2MM_PCTU"
WHICH MAKES ME WONDER IF I COULD
NEVER HAD TO KNOCK ON WOOD
AND I'M GLAD I HAVEN'T YET
BECAUSE I'M SURE IT ISN'T GOOD
THAT'S THE IMPRESSION THAT I GET
with this as the answer
asking whether or not people have ever been close to tragedy?
see music board
you do take my threads rather seriously
Stupid fucking name means I've not bothered listening to this band.
This is probably a good thing, right?
and yeah, you're not missing much. a couple of their songs are ok.
Plus the fact they write very naive lyrics about very dense topics.
Both things = failure.
However, I'd back them to release a genuinely decent album in future. They're young and they've got the right idea, it's just very poorly executed right now...
