Vote For Flying Through Clouds Of Volcanic Ash!
'The BA chief executive sent 26 long-haul flights towards British airports and demanded that the air authorities allow them to land.'
can he just do that without permission? mental.
what an absolute thundercunt
and flights and blah blah blah, only the daily mail could turn the reopening of uk airports into a national panic fest
See manbearpig's comment above, BA sent up Heathrow-bound flights whilst talks were taking place which seems an extremely bold manoeuvre to take.
If that's not interesting to you, then I suppose that's fair enough though.
was dangerous though they would have diverted them somewhere else, however they let them land. end of story
they might have thought it was safer to let them land there and then rather than send them back into the ash clouds
So people would've been sitting on those planes, presumably knowing the cirsumstances and being updated occasionally about where they would actually end up. It just seems pretty audacious of Willie Walsh to send those planes up to influence the negotiations. That's what I find interesting about it.
it's more the fact that safety measures can be so willingly flouted that's a bit disturbing. just cos no planes have fallen out of the sky doesn't mean it was never a possibility.
everytime they fly ffs
and i shouldn't have to point that out. you can always ignore these threads if you desire.
when people are going so MENTAL about it all, but your right, im leaving this daily mail inspired thread so you can all panic together safe in the knowledge that we all think its an OUTRAGE
just to show China what's what.
"Dame Hutton also admitted safety experts and aircraft manufacturers had collaborated with the CAA to confirm that planes can tolerate the volcanic ash."
Shocking confession there, the government are really on the ropes on this one...
How is it up to him to unilaterally call off the flight ban? Mewling on about how 'customer safety was his first concern' in the same breath as complaining about losing £200 mill a day. Your airline sucks balls Willie. I hate BA more than I can possibly describe
and actively discourage others as well like I do, it'll soon topple over and probably will of it's own accord soon enough anyway. Then we could get one or two decent national airlines
of any of the UK-based airlines, I might agree with you.
when their evil empire collapses (next year????)
Existing airlines will take up the vacant routes or BA will be taken over by one of the big American carriers - the bar to entry is too high for a new starter operating out of Heathrow at the moment.
That doesn't mean that they aren't in trouble themselves though.
Rest assured that I have now though.
It's basically them throwing a strop and saying "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM, YOU PLEB? DO YOU? I'M A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON YOU KNOW. THIS SORT OF THING WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED WHEN WE HAD OUR EMPIRE."
