What year did it come out?
and already taping songs off the radio...
Wasn't Happy Days on Channel 4 early evenings around this time too? And the Buddy Holly video was a parody?
I haven't thought about any of this for more than a decade...
i was 10. i do seem to remember Happy days being on TV back then, though i couldn't tell you when.
Yeah, they superimposed the into the set where some other band had played i think. they were dressed abit like it, and at the end Al asks the bass play "I thought you guys were great, i mean really great tonight", ..."Did you try the fish tonight" and he says "...that's not so great Al" and then Al's all like "not so great al..."
either the 6.00 or the 6.30 slot, yeah kids they used to show fun stuff before Hollyoaks crashed the party.
thank you windows 95!
i have MTV Europe to thank for playing it a gazillion times
driving along with it on the stereo and I had to pull over and get out due to my own stench. Sickening.
that Blue by Weezer is an album that you can play any track off of any people from any demographic will imediatly start singing. I don't know one person aged 20 - 30who doesn't react to it in this way. No matter if they is chavvy, indie, metaly, punky, normal, boring, wacky or a crossgendered crossnationality marvel they all start singing.
Sure the are lots of SONGS this happens to but Blue is one of the only ones I'm aware of that every song provokes this reaction... and it's not like Different Class by Pulp or 13 by Blur were inevitably someone says it sucks either...
apart from Buddy Holly, so... uh...
so go away, your gruffness
I'm pretty certain that if I played it to my friend, he'd say it was 'gothy emo shit'.
He's wrong and an idiot obvs, but still. Yeah.
they'd just better realise no one wants to hear their new stuff that much.
There was the biggest grin on my face for the rest of the day
I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT US ANYWAY, I DON'T CARE BOUT THAT
Dum dum dum duddle um dum dum duddle um dum dum duddle um dum dum dum
Can you tell what it is yet?
I FEEL SAFE!
My first contact with them, on the NOW 31 CD2 I think.
Awesome Awesome Awesome
I just wanted to break out into song :(
Ric Ocasek had to convince him it was great, he used to leave little pieces of paper around the studio 'WE WANT BUDDY HOLLY' written on them.
AND IF YOU SEE HER, TELL HER, IT'S A HEY, HEY, HEY HEY
had no idea this would get this many replies.
I wouldn't mind if I never heard it again though.
HAPPY FUCKING WEEKEND
my top 5 albums ever.
i don't care bout that.
and i love them all.
but this song makes me feel ill
I would always pray they would play weezer, sometimes they did and it was glorious.I had the tape recorder at the ready.
blue was one of the few albums i owned as a young teenager :D (didn't listen to much music then)
and play Blue and Pinkerton back to back in my challet
