Want to get my new ipod insured for loss and accidental damage and theft. Who will do this for me? How do I do it?
As a supplement to your Home Contents insurance.
Reading the smallprint will be required. :-(
Including you on your folks' insurance may well be possible.
thanks. i dnt really wanna be on my parents' policy, it complicates things a million times when i'm in edinburgh. :D
either as a specified item or under personal posessions.
Depends on the value of your ipod really as you will most likely incur a £50-£100 excess in the event of a claim.
Who do you bank with, Barclays were offering gadget cover as part of their current account offering. Although you would have to pay for a current account and would get possibly a load of other stuff you don't need or want (wills, breakdown etc).
Smile do a similar thing, which includes gadget cover as an option. £12 a month though, which is obviously daft for iPod cover alone. But you do get worldwide travel insurance* and breakdown cover thrown in.
* Always useful (think it also includes one other named person residing at your address, which might appeal).
** Might be useful (think it might include cars you're sat in, not just cars you own - t's & c's innit)
If you're not covered by your folks' insurance, you should defo get some Home Contents cover. Personal Possessions supplement will probs only be an extra tenner a year or summats on top of that. But as chadders sez, keep an eye on the excess in the smallprint.
Endsleigh always get a shout for stuff like this, but I found their cover to be laughably limited (especially for stuff like a CD collection). Halifax might be worth a gleg cos they were almost offering unlimited cover when I last checked (which was 2/3 years ago).
Try them. In general with any policy it's best to ring up and specify directly the stuff you'll take out of the house and you want covered and make sure they're good with it. For example, for our phones Endsleigh wanted a specific code on the phone to check against or something.
i got it covered for £8. £8!! bargain. for loss/accidental damage/theft all over europe. sweet.
just kidding - I'm in a dafty mood
just get contents insurance then say yes to the 'personal possesions' option where it protects items you carry around with you. Huzzah
People that take out insurance after buying every electronics are costing them selves a lot extra.
