Did anyone watch this?
Pretty exciting episode, good end to the season. I wish they'd taken Kenny with them. That guy.
that sceen with don and peggy was one of the best things on telly ever
when he says something like...'you know that people feel differently to how they did...'....or something, something like that.
mad men is my faveourite of the big boys....wire, west wing, sopranos, deadwood, etc....there is no fat on it...no scene or phrase is wasted.
brooker said it perfectly in his column the other day...he said mad men is so tight, that just seeing don a bit peturbed is cause for big drama.
same last night....i mean, essentially it was just a few characters boxing up office supplies...hardly tony getting shot....but in the context of the show it's HUGE
amazing, amazing, amazing.
a very obvious reboot but so much fun as to make all objections null and void. plus coming off the back of
** SPOILER **
the beginning of don and betty's divorce it was all very bittersweet. absolutely loved it. more sterling, more cooper, and most importantly more joan.
it felt a bit like in the wire when the team gets brought back to the office for another go round....it's pretty obvious but you're so happy all the characters are back you don't care.
wonder what they will do with sal?
and i kind of suspect they won't bring him back. obviously it would be awesome if they did, but in all probability a new character would be equally awesome and you sort of have to back the new over the familiar.
i'm more worried about kinsey. obviously they had to leave people behind (the equivalent to getting shot in a spy series i guess) and no one really cared about cosgrove so he was a shoe in, but kinsey really took the bullet. he was a bit rubbish and a bit full of himself but i liked him none the less.
He pissed off the tobacco guy, who is pretty much keeping the new business afloat.
i actually think it's a really good way to play it.
his 'secret' has been toyed with for so long, you felt like the only eventuality to reflect the build up would be MASSIVE DRAMAZZ....big declarations...split with the wife....office gossip, etc etc.
but really, possibly in the manner that many gay men of the time in similar environments were dealt with, he was just viciously swept underneath the carpet with barely a second glance as the door hit him on the way out.
tragic and perfectly played.
what. a. show.
The make me HA out loud. I'd like to think he ad-libs them.
'chauncey....say hello to mr cambpell'
i dunno why, it kills me when he says that.
I hate him. Good character though.
loved the banter when Cooper and Don are trying to persuade him to join the new group. Great acting.
That bit where they tell the kids about the divorce was horrible viewing, but very well done. Betty came out of it like a right bitch, although pretty unfairly after she'd put up with loads over the years.
views of betty are probably the most varied of any character in the show. personally i love betty as a character but i think she makes a terrible life. plus, running off with henry francis. who she barely knows. seems like she's making exactly the same mistake all over again.
Can't wait for season 4.
Think more happened in last night's episode than the whole of the first series...! It put you through an absolute wringer of emotions though, like all good telly should.
Am glad that the british guy stayed on, it's a nice nod to us in the Uk that are watching as it continually gets ignored by the US and hopefully won't get shifted to Sky...
plus joan is a stone cold babe, so that helps.
reappeared, both me and my wife cheered. Then my wife slapped me.
