Whenever I read things like this I automatically want to hear what Gervais and Pilkington think about it.
but as I'm studying anthropology at university I thought I'd comment on this. These fossils are indeed pretty cool, but I don't think they're likely to be direct ancestors of humans, but rather a late descendant of one of the earlier australopithecines.
