Floating voter seeks political anchorage
So I've been diligently reading newspapers and watching televised debate, and yet still have no real political convictions.
My opinion changes depending on whatever political message I'm being told at the time is.. like if Lord Mandleson says the Tories will clusterfuck the NHS I'm thinking, yikes that's bad. But then, if Osbourne counters with, yeah but Labour will drag us further into recession I'm thinking, shit... don't want that either.
Even when faced with genuine policy I don't feel like I'm informed enough to make a wise decision. Is eliminating employers NI over five years a good thing? Better than raising the threshold of income tax to £10,000?
Feels weird to me that most people seem to have really strong opinions on different parties, can't imagine feeling like I know better than Oxbridge educated politicians who have devoted their professional lives to the cause. I feel like I have as much right to an opinion on Welfare as I do about architectural techniques in multistory car-parks
This makes me feel like I don't want to vote, but then I'm told that's about the worst thing you can do.. so confused right now.
