It's gonna be good, ain't it.
The first 2 episodes were on Sky movies tonight. Premier. I just thought it was worth a chat about.
I too watched in HD. Cracking.
I thought it was for a computer game, and I was thinking that the faces looked as good as any CGI I'd ever seen. I was looking for the "not actual gameplay" disclaimer. Then I realised that it was supposed to be a real drama.
They decorated the canteen with helmets and those little metal cups and some random crates printed with kanji. They also had a woman making sushi, which seemed as unlikely as bringing in a genuine bratwürst cook to celebrate the release of "Band Of Brothers".
Who else have you seen in there recently?
The fact that my staff canteen is the most interesting thing I have to talk about speaks volumes about my life I think. Sad, sad volumes.
That said, a fat man was just outside there this morning talking loudly on the phone to Rafa Benitez. He laughed a lot, which suggests that Rafa has a heretofore undiscovered ability to crack a joke (something something squad rotation something). Also, Mariella Frostrup eats porridge and Jamie Redknapp wears shiny trainers. Cheers.
two episodes in, it´s pretty shit.
he´s also in this film, which sounds incredible.
"The Cure is a 1995 comedy-drama film starring Brad Renfro and Joseph Mazzello about two boys searching for the cure of AIDS,"
i said at the time....there is no need to make this, it has nothing to add, nothing to say.
and the writing and acting is so piss-poor....they pretty much give characters two settings...
'ooh....ey....ha hey...ey....eyyyy..this guy huh?...this fucking guy....are we pals or what huh?...look at this fucking banter huh?.....eyyyy.....huh...haha...ey...'
'...*stares into distance*...'
this is a bit of an ellipsisgasm
those guys....they just love the craic
'EYYY....EYY.....STOP BUSTING MY BAWLS HUH?.....EH....'
I miss the fatherly and dependable presence of Winters, the droll nihilism of Nix, the funny voices of Luz, the calm assurance of Lipton, the general badassness of Spiers, the quaint european villages being blown to smithereens, the clarity of the battle scenes, the camaraderie not just between the characters but also clearly evidenced between the actors playing them, and a bunch of other things.
The Pacific is just a bit meh, a bit mulchy. I can't engage with it. Shame really.
but then i wasn't really into band of brothers that much either until the later episodes so maybe i should stick with it.
it all should've just stopped at saving private ryan.
