'lounge suit' is an absolute cunt of a dress code for women to interpret. It's technically less than cocktail dress, but if you wear a smark frock and a smart suit-type jacket, you look like a secretary who's come straight from the office. Sportsmens dinners are the worst for this.
But yes, blac tie at lounge suit event is a little awkward. You fucking snob ;-)
Men only, cigars, port etc. No room for fillies.
I LOVE port (and I have no particular feminist or moral objection to leaving the room after pudding, so long as I get port). Cigars can gtf though.
For that reason
I am being tongue in cheek - was just at a dinner last night and there was one poor guy who'd turned up in full black tie and he stood out like a sore thumb.
I imagine it is more complicated for ladies - although on the other hand, for men it's just dull. Especially if you have an aversion to novelty ties.
It sounds like some sort of dreadful American term to me.
but not a business suit. i think.
What sort of suit isn't a business suit? An 80s suit with the sleeves rolled up? I'd rather wear a DJ, thanks.
Or maybe it was the other way round, he wore a lounge suit when it was a black tie.
Whereas black tie is like a tux right?
Meh, it doesn't really matter anyway. The most formal occasions I ever get invited to are hoedowns.
ROUND NECK SUITS.
You're not in The Beatles, you cunt.
I've worn a morning suit only the one time, but it was for an evening function. Crazy times.
