So what will the title be?
Scott Pilgrim and the Indie Band and Megadrive Game Reference.
Scott Pilgrim and Depressing Realisation That He Will Die Destitute and Alone in Canada.
Scott Pilgrim and the Bosnian Sex Slave Trafficking Ring.
Scott Pilgrim vs The Punisher.
They're a bit ... Juno, aren't they? Unless things improve they're going back to the shop.
The 4th one is great. just re-read it again this week.
scott pilgrim is neither of these things, seems a pretty spot on slacker/indie depiction, the references ring true (i think id be a fan of anything with a chapter called the glow pt 2). i think scott pilgrim and the infinite sadness may be my favorite thing ive read
Juno is indeed a pejorative term. It's the worst film I've ever seen, no hyperbole.
Even at this early stage of reading, I feel that even slightly misplaced pop culture comparisons are a fair way to refer to Scott Pilgrim books.
you are wrong.
that is one nice cover!
I quite liked it.
Agree with DK though, it is a bit 'Juno'. And he's right about how TERRIBLE that film is.
I can see this being a cracking film when left with Edger Wright though. The way the illustration style changed for the 7 year old flashback part, the illustrated notes on their flat, the stage notes for whats going on off-page, etc.
I got half-way through the first one and just thought it was a load of half-baked, slacker try-hard shit that every man and his wise-cracking dog have been doing ever since people got it into their heads that Clerks was a good film. But I've warmed to it (and Wallace Wells in particular) and I think the semi-autistic indie child that lives inside me is going to make me spend £21 on the other three at lunch time.
I want to read the rest. But unlike you, I'm not sure I wanna spend £40 to do so.
Also, I went to Forbidden Planet to get the thing. This event, coupled with the grief I got from my girlfriend for reading it on the sofa yesterday, made me feel horrendously 'tragic'...
Shouldn't cost you £40 Seany T, you can get them on Amazon for about a 5er each, and that way you avoid Comic Shop Shame as well.
I've not seen Juno. Is it worse than Garden State?
I shouldn't buy them. I know that. Really, I do. And yet ...
I love Forbidden Planet. It's the only place I can go in central London, look around and say "I could take absolutely everyone in this room. At once, if needs be".
Juno <<<<<<<<< Garden State
Thought the RRP was £7.99 with a quid off. May be wrong though.
Both Juno and Garden State suck, in different ways.
Maybe you should listen to The Shins?
IT'LL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
I think I'm meta-jaded.
