They reckoned they'd be able to get it working through a digital TV channel too. Not top end stuff straight away, but certainly PS2 and earlier Xbox titles. Essentially like pay-per-view film channels.
It still seemed a bit 'pie in the sky' from the way they spoke but they had some SERIOUS capital behind them.
I'm sure there'll be a catch regarding how the controller works with titles not created for it, but it's an interesting prospect.
plenty of articles on eurogamer.net and arstechnica.com detailing why this really isn't going to work well, especially with the UKs poor net architecture.
A closed beta was available in the US, but this was only through specific, close servers. One beta tester tried using the system outside of the closed server area and reported poor results...the main problem is input lag
It's certainly an alternative, but it will be many years before tech like this offers anywhere near the same experience as a dedicated machine.
