I'm going there in September and wanted to know what it was like...
I'm also going to New York in September.
that has been converted into a public park.
looks interesting, will probably give it a go if I can fit it into my week.
i meant to when i went there last year :'( (instead i seemed to spend the entire week in the cake shop drinking Irish cider from Florida. good times!)
went last august. it's quite good, and interesting to look at. will be nicer in september, as it won't be 100 degrees, so you can linger and spend some more time than we did. it's an interesting way to see that part of manhattan.
here are some pics that my girlfriend took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8769083@N06/3884394462/in/set-72157622100534761/
He said it was ossum.
I knew I could rely on you.
Yeah I wanna go. I might leave my Mum wandering around Ground Zero in tears and sneak off for half hour...
the overground bridges are all double the width they need to be, and the unused sides are basically skeletal - there's not even any tracks left as far as i can tell.
eg here: http://bit.ly/9bAHb0 idk what the empty side is for. does anyone here know if it serves a purpose or is just from when the line was used more frequently?
the High-Line was able to be converted because it ran across the full width. There would be a lot of problems if you had to put up lots of screens and security etc.
but I'm planning to go this weekend. I'll let you know what it is like.
