Should you use an adblocker?

I've always wondered if we had some kind of adblocker-amnesty or set-up a "pay what you like" tipjar, whether folks with ad blockers (of which most people on this board have ads blocked but are also some of the heaviest users of the site) would donate the equivalent of the revenue we're losing toward the development, costs and upkeep of the site. I've made estimates before and with some users it's only about a twenty quid a year of revenue we're losing but with others it's CONSIDERABLY more!
personally, i hate the idea of asking anyone for money and am well aware that asking for money would rub a lot of people up the wrong way, be misconstrued at greed rather than a huge collective contribution toward the upkeep and development of the site (and as many of you know, despite an average of half-a-million unique users a month, DiS can't currently afford a web developer or any full-time staff)
