a nice antidote to the dourness of The Dark Knight.
but they can't ruin this in a single sequel. Surprised they've gone for May rather than the summer for release.
In the last film he fights someone who basically builds a big Iron Man outfit using his powercell technology.
In this film it seems he fights a LOAD of Iron Men made by someone using the same technology.
It's like when you first saw Return of the Jedi and realised they'd brought back the Death Star when they could have done something different and interesting.
Iron Man in a suitcase!
Scarlett Johansen and her boobs!
Sam Rockwell's crazy hair!
(I'm a bit worried that there's seemingly too many plot strands going on)
I don't know anything about Iron Man so I can't really comment. If it's as fun as the last film it'll be fine and I accept a lot of the reason we have this sort of plot line occurring in ALL superhero films is down to the source material. I just wish they'd think outside that box a bit.
In case of the Iron Man concept you have someone like Batman who is very much a human with technology yet IM doesn't have the weight of all those, "SHIT MAN, MAKE IT DARK! MAKE IT GOTHIC! OH WOW," people Batman does, and that means the 'villain' or whatever can really be ANYTHING. It's a much wider scope than dealing with Superman, Spider-Man, Wolverine, The Hulk who are actually superheroes with no real sense of mortality to them.
When The Avengers film comes out, and you'll have Iron Man fighting alongside Captain America and Thor - the actual Thor, Norse God of Thunder - in what is surely going to be an utter mess of a film, you'll wish it was just Downey Jr fighting robots.
Going back to Thor though - Kenneth Brannagh's directing!
I like the idea of him directing. It'll probably be ace.
but it's got Tony Hopkins as Odin, so I'm happy.
He called it a 'travel iron'.
like theo says above, he can't just fight a different kind of rival iron man every time
