And do you have decent recordings up right now?
2) Yep. Why, interested?
finding out if any local promoters also manage.
Because if you can draw a decent number, I can at least put you in touch with some people who might be interested. Which part of the country are you based in?
Second album out soon.
Will PM you deets if you'd like a look.
Personally though, i wouldn't get a "proper" manager unless you're a) fairly well off as a band and can afford to take a smaller cut of gig money and b) you're already playing pretty big gigs (ie not just playing at your local venue for £30 and a few free pints).
When i was in a band we had the singer's dad managing us, simply because he had an extraordinary talent for convincing venue owners/people putting gigs on that we were way better than we actually were, and because he wasn't he sort of guy that people wanted to fuck with, so we always got paid in full even when we played badly.
you don't need one!
but irrespective of whatever stage you're at, if you want any kind of advancement beyond playing for fun, then you need effective *management*. This doesn't have to come in the form of an external person or company, but either way, you need to have some ideas as to your goals and the drive to achieve these. Very often, creative types either can't or won't carry out this function themselves, in which case, they need some form of external management.
It'd just be nice to have someone else worry about all the sensible stuff like getting to gigs.
You need a band bitch.
for one of them.
1. locate venue.
2. plan your journey there.
3. on the day of the gig, make that journey.
Now we're back to square one with nothing to show for it but a hundred-weight of Hamfatter t-shirts and the unshakeable taste of Peter Jones' jizz at the back of the throat.
Same colour too.
ok I'm gonna stop now.
And more likely need to spend more time managing yourselves before looking for someone else to enter the picture.
