Looked good. GO FOR IT
but this has inspired me to make some homemade crisps (not sure why)... i'll report back...
They're much tastier, as you can probably imagine.
but I have no crumpet rings so havn't had a chance to make them yet.
I imagine they're a bit 'trial and error' and faffy to make.
the first couple will probably be a bit crappy, but then it all comes together pretty easily
I just imagine that with crumpets it takes a bit of fine tuning to get the right consistency for the batter.
It's one of life's great mysteries... unless anyone can link me to some cheap ones.
inexpensive food rings.
That's not a bad price actually.
Or did you just buy a slab and use that? If it's the latter can you tell me what kind of rock it is, because I really want to do this but I can't find anything telling me which material is best to use.
I bought one from the shop. It was £7 or something.
I was thinking of going for granite anyway. Wonder how much an inch thick square of granite costs...
You can buy a granite tile from a tile shop. They're not cheap.
I'm currently having to use a selection of metal spatulas/fish slices to move it as the stone is hotter than the sun. I burn myself EVERY time.
I use a combination of dexterity, bravery and teutonic charm.
so once you whip it out of the oven you can plonk the stone on there and then I shove it onto a surface and take it from there.
but the stone is so big it barely fits in the oven so I can't have the added metal stand as well.
but I shall go for it I think. Cheers.
and then you'll get free p&p on Super Saver
All Amazon fulfilled have been free for a while now.
I'm going to get two from Robert Dyas for £5.99. But I have a 20% off voucher for use this Friday. I'm also going to get a basket for the bathroom and we're in discussions over buying a swanky washing up brush.
2 packets of warburtons crumpets for £1. get in.
2) leaving the uk for a bit, still want crumpets, bought 2 packs to take with me but those won't last long
these are warburtons. the best kind.
but you wont make the same saving i just have.
don't do it. I had the hump and gave up after a million failed attempts
isn't contributing to your discovery into the world of homemade crumpets.
so I doubt any of your tax bucks contribute to her education/crumpet discovery.
I MADE CRISPS! they're fucking delicious... sea salt, black pepper and paprika. mega.
just don't make them too thick or they won't cook all the way through.
I was thinking about this last night and thinking about how they are made.
what a hideous waste of time for something that costs 50p for a dozen.
HENCE THIS THREAD
Why do people bother buying and playing musical instruments when they could just listen to Spotify?
guitars don't cost 50p
Crumpets a lot more complicated though, but sound delicious.
Apparently, you can use tuna tins with both ends cut off as crumpet rings, assuming you like blood-flavoured crumpets with a slightly fishy taint.
Also, an appropriately sized cookie-cutter should do it. Not a plastic one, obviously.
Shit. I'm succumbing to cultural imperialism. Do they have crumpets in America, or would they be a bit too healthy?
I mean you can't make shop-bought crumpets, right?
I guess what I'm trying to say is that you used one word too many in your thread title
I'm here for all y'all
