I'm in the mood for a fright, all recommendations are welcome!
Thanks to everyone in advance.
As much as I love the Exorcist, I'm in the mood for something I haven't seen before.
both of which I like a lot. But I can't say I've seen Shivers, so I'll definitely look into it. I actually recently watched Videodrome at my local theater for the tenth time, if its anywhere near as good as that or Naked Lunch... I'll be a happy camper. Thanks.
It was more terrible. It was from the early 80's and was banned in this country (and I still don't think it has been fully released uncensored in the UK). I honestly couldn't tell you why. A man who can only be killed by being shot in the head goes around and kills about 5 people. That is it.
it was surprisingly good, not amazing but a bit different.
It's outstanding. As is Demon Seed. And Demons 2.
I'll kick off the '(not so) obscure and foreign' section with A Tale Of Two Sisters, Pulse, The House Of The Devil (you'll have to stream it or region 1 DVD it, DVD's not out yet), Three Extremes, Onibaba...
I'm struggling to remember any other great ones that spring to mind, it's a bit early for it I'm afraid
and I actually saw the House of the Devil at my theater, picked up a copy of it on DVD a few weeks ago too. Pretty crazy throwback. I haven't seen any of the 'Demon' flicks mentioned, thanks. I've seen everything else besides Pulse, which I strayed away from thinking that it might be anything like the American remake which was awful to say the least. So, I'll give that a go too.
either the original or the remake, both are fun
excited about this. not seen the original.
Not a trad horror, but well worth a watch. Got a few good scares, and a bit of depth.
(trailer is TOTALLY NSFW btw)
But you won't because I won't let you.
I think it's quite good, though.
Not massively horror-y but worth a look. More of a gay love story (not actually a gay love story but pretty much is) with plenty of cannabalism thrown in. Lovely original soundtrack by Michael Nyman and Damon Albarn too.
It's fucking gross but it's amazing.
totally fucking gruelling and a tough film to sit through, but good nonetheless.
Switchblade romance is interesting for having a fuckabout with the genre and is a bloody tense watch
i also second the don't look now recommendation.
Or for something contemporary and mainstream, Drag me to hell was fantastically good visceral fun.
