it's minus fucking 20 degrees
beautiful sunny morning though
Haven't seen morning yet, but boy I can't wait for it.
Wotz happenin' dwn ur end?
except, i will be doing that for the next two nights. C U THERE
it's -3 outside here so i win. or do i?
and I have to say it's been a while since that's happened. So I'm very well indeed.
When it's minus 20, does your whole country shut down like ours? Or is it just that we're fucking morons over here? I already know the answer.
almost on time
it seems that the transport infrastructure has collapsed
all underground lines except one are closed today in Sthlm
That's the most vindicating post ever. Britain IS just like everywhere else! :-D
and not particularly happy about it. If you take a week's annual leave and then get food poisoning, your flat suffers intermittent power cuts and general shit things happen during that week, it's only fair that your employers should let you take another shot at it, right?
I think you need a mystery illness. (has anybody ever done this? It's never ever occurred to me to lie to my employers like this, but I've been so miserable with work recently, I've started thinking- hmmmmm, a dose of 'random virus' and three days in bed would go down a treat.)
If you get ill (and can prove it) whilst on holiday then you can take those days as sick leave and keep your holiday entitlement.
I think. May depend on employer.
When I broke my foot, I got all the holiday booked back, including one day that was for a wedding that I actually went to (and they knew about).
It's the law innit(might need doctor's note).
holidays or a weekend.
Hang on, -20?.... Do you still have all of your fingers and toes?
I am feeling chipper for a monday. I had a massively sensible weekend, by my usual standards. I have a new assistant who has started working for me today, and he seems GOOD. I had an excellent yoga pratice yesterday and am almost back to my super-bendy self. I'm going to the chiropractor in an hour to spend a fortune on painful manipulation, followed be semi-orgasm. Best of all, I am off Friday and Monday :-D
I guess if you feel it does you good, then it does you good...
not from me, from "them".
he was referring to the way that chiropractors act when they have the piss taken out of them... which you should be familiar with: http://www.badscience.net/2009/07/we-are-more-possible-than-you-can-powerfully-imagine/
Def not the same.
but still not, y'know, not actually a proven medical treatment. Just another expensive sugar pill... :)
Xylopwn broke three discs in my neck and i couldn't move for 4 days (he didn't really, i think. I'm pretty sure it was a combo of lugging a trolley bag around northern ireland twice a week for teh last nmonth, plus a rum layback, that did it). I went to the chiropractor last wednesday, and on thursday---> cured. Having said that, it cost me £200 and I'm quite sure the xrays he took were with a camera bought out of IWOOT. I'll see how I get on today and then maybe sack it off.
he's giving you some normal medical advice and reasonable physical therapy... for now? Back pain is probably the one thing that chiropractors can actually help with... as soon as he starts laying on the stuff about damage to your vertebrae interfering with your body's 'innate intelligence' and 'ability to heal itself', you should probably check where you left your wallet.
He's absolutely amazing, but he creeps me out, so i've decided I'm not going back. I thought it was my imagination last week, but today confirmed that he's creepy.
how are you?
Rainiy on the walk to work, but aside from that. We're on deadline for this week's paper, but the front pages are already started so I just have to write up a decent page 3 which is already in my notebook then fill in a few gaps. Everything is going worryingly smoothly...
I stacked it while crossing the road coming into work. I'm now sat here nursing my pride.
Had a good weekend other than that.
I could really do with my bed and a massage.
but i've got my sealskin boots and whatnot so i'll be fine
at least you know where you're going for next month, right? :D
three meetings to sit through now with my balls hanging out. Hey ho.
Yeah, you'll look like a bit of a knob, but at least they won't have to look AT your knob!
benefits of working in central cardiff I suppose.
You should start too!
I forget about that
me and my brother are both out of work at the moment. he was pissed off because I was using a surface in the kitchen that he wanted, to prepare breakfast. I got panicky and dropped my fruit salad all over the floor and burst into tears.
this is the kind of rubbish that happens if you don't have a job.
whats the cheapest way of going on holiday to sweden?
with ryanair weren't too bad.
Sweden is expensive
cheapest way? ryanair, stay with friends, cook at home and buy booze from systemet
i have a problem with all of those options however. i might start entering some competitions.
well good luck
don't come here when it's -20 though
I nearly died out there today
I had to go and scout some locations in the old town for a photoshoot and bravado said to me 'fuck it I'll walk'
i quite fancy a bit of -20 tho. it seems romantic.
a possible aspirational screen-saver for a romantic sadist
where is this photo?
It's Slussen, looking north towards the Old Town (Gamla Stan) and the city with Kungsholmen and the town hall (Stadshuset - the red building with the gold thing on top) off to the left
There's a walk way that goes over the top of a retaurant called Gondolen (The Gondola). I took it from up there
but thanks anyway.
thought it was obvious that it was stockholm
Anschul, have you ever been to Vrangsholmen or Krokstrand?
I want to go there in the summer and stay here:
Vrångsholmen - mosquito coast in the summer
I've never been but my gf's grandparents used to have a summer house down in Lysekil (about 50km south along the coast) which her parents foolishly sold when the grandfolks passed away
Krokstrand is practically Norway, never been but it looks interesting down there but again, totally mosquito crazy at the wrong time of year in that part of the world
are you a member of Blackburn People's Choir or is that just a google search ?
They've been out there to perform at Krokstrand festival and stayed in that building, it's an amazing old school building that is run by artists in the community, it's beautiful. That's not a very good photo though.
The person I know was invited to join the board of members to have input for the future of the place, so I've been given an open invitation to stay there which I would like to take up at some point. Maybe ride up there on my bike.
Fuck me it was cold but the thermals/longjohns helped and it was romantic as we walked through gamla stan as the snow started to fall and we poured ourselves into a bar and next to the fire with a whisky, yum :)
Great place but fuck me its pricey.
in a bar in Gamla Stan
you must have paid about £15 each for that
(yep it's ridiculous)
At first it looked well priced but i didn't realise that was the price for like 1 centilitre and to make up a decent whisky i need 4 of them :(
But sometimes you just need to splash out for some good whisky :)
Then went for a run round where the flat I'm buying is.. it's delightful xD there was a big bit of ice floating down the river that the flat looks onto, and loads of birds around - various different types of ducks, garden birds, geese, swans, and I'm pretty sure there was a cormorant as well! Awesome.
Going to have a shower, lunch, cook dinner in preparation for later, then go to the uni to see my new supervisor and a guest seminar he thinks will be interesting.
Oh, and print out my boarding passes to go to Barcelona on Wednesday :D
just reading about it. How nice!
