FA Cup action.
Portsmouth win the South Coast derby with a scoreline that looks much more emphatic than the reality. Fans clash with each other and police outside the ground, but according to the commander in charge it was better than expected.
Palace take Villa to a draw in which Neil Warnock goes psycho yet again, and Reading and West Brom also draw to make up the last three non-Premiership sides in the cup. Chelsea are top seeds after making easy work of Cardiff at Saturday lunchtime. Birmingham and Fulham are the other two sides to make it through so far.
Most interesting 6th round ties are Chelsea v City (if they overcome Stoke) and Reading/West Brom v Palace/Villa. Two fairly mediocre all Premiership affairs otherwise.
Oxford go back top of the Conference with a 2-0 win over someone or other, Wealdstone deservedly win a North London derby beating Hendon 3-2 although finish nervously.
North of the border, Rangers eventually beat Hibs to take advantage and go 10 points clear as Celtic slip up with a 4-4 draw at Aberdeen.
Some no mark journalist comes up with 5 ideas for "revitalising" the FA Cup. Every single one of them is shit. Also floated is the prospect of a playoff for the final Champions League spot. In a surprising display of self-preservation, United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all voice their disapproval while the other 16 clubs appear to be in favour of the idea.
Any more?
