starts off like they were trying to keep in character with the classic 30s universal original - mist, superstitious villages, gypsy encampments , dark woods, more mist - then it sort of goes a bit mad.
Turns into the post-X-Men Huge Action vehicle Van Helsing for awhile, then there is some big plot hole time lapse action (it really took everyone a month to bother moving onto the next stage of the investigate/action/plot?).
Hopkins is a total pantomime villain.
Then it ends with someone pounding the audience in the face with their big dripping hamfists.
not very good but it's still fairly entertaining.
