The government hates us:
I believe I'd stroke a Nazi before I threw away my smokes.
I also agree with the smoking ban in pubs/restaurants or whatever.
Just like all anti-smoking stuff is.
I have to walk past a couple of pubs, on a pretty narrow pavement every night after work. It's not the end of the world but I'd rather not have to.
en route to the library.
did she get mouth cancer from all that smoking or summit?
and now i just feel cheated.
thats the sort of thing people have done in the past, a year or so ago in brighton everyone stood in the taxi ring from all the surrounding pubs and bars blocking traffic with the whole lary 'where the fuck do u want us to go then?' I can see that becoming a growing issue.
He was claiming he'd rather his kids didn't smoke but after they reached the age of 18 he immediately didn't have an opinion on whether or not they smoked. Great work...
It's ok if you're 14, or whatever, and think it looks cool, but peoples should grow out of them shits.
most of them have died through doorway related passive smoking ilnesses, but soon we won't be able to see the sun through the dead.
It's costing the economy millions.
...the unreasonably hysterical protestations of certain non-smokers, it's the unreasonably hysterical persecution complex of smokers themselves... This article is fucking dreadful. One thing that gets on my nerves is when people classify themselves as a "smoker" as if it's like some kind of prized identity which MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS.
I'm a person who smokes. I enjoy smoking. I'm an idiot for doing so but, hey, I'm an idiot for doing a lot of things. I don't need idiots like this woman speaking on my behalf.
However - the government wish to reduce the number of people who smoke. Why on EARTH is this a bad thing? They're not going to force you to stop smoking, only to more strongly consider the impact of your actions on yourself AND others. Sure, I may disagree with some of their methods (those photos on fag packets are a horrendous failure...) but what's the matter with the end goal?
And I haven't even touched on my 'smoking isn't actually a significant chemical dependency/addiction' argument either.
Right, I'm off for a fag...
Unfortunately I'm neither.
...I just get unreasonably annoyed by shit Guardian articles when I'm bored on a Tuesday afternoon.
To redress the seriousness balance I'm now off to post in a thread about farting on breasts or, failing that, PICTURES OF CATS!
