The Wire / Generation Kill / Treme

vamos [Edit] [Delete] 11:47, 2 February '10

Yeah I know, another thread about the above.

Anyhow, just wondered what people were expecting of this new series.

Watching Generation Kill right now and only 4 episodes in (SO NO SPOILERS PLEASE) however it does feel very similar in tone to The Wire.

Very character development heavy, seemingly quite factual and a good mix of backgrounds. But the one prevailing trait is that it generally seems to be about people in power being shit and the people under them suffering for it.

A theme which ran heavily through The Wire too.

Seeing as Treme is about New Orleans post-Katrina, anyone else fearing their writing style might start getting like a broken record and be about a similar theme?

That's not to say I'm not interested in it. I thought the highlight of Fry's trip around America was the sad state he found Orleans in and I desperately wanted to hear more about what was being done to help the community out. But from an entertainment / artistic point of view I guess I'm hoping they mix it up a bit for fear of repetition.

Thoughts?
