Its odd right?
Books being reissued, available in Foyles, new publishing deal etc...
Bet hes loving the Klaxons.
of the twentieth (and this) century is odd.
I always thought he was relatively unheard of.
now there being reissued and are available in Foyles.
I find this revival hes been having in the last few years odd as it seems to have come from nowhere and the only thing I can contect it to is the klaxons referencing his books.
that was his first book in a decade so perhaps he wasn't in the public eye (:D) as much?
and I remember him being referenced in that. I think you've underestimated his fame.
I haven't seen any of them reissued recently but they did the same when his last one was released in paperback.
but I'm pretty sure Thomas Pynchon is one of the most widely admired writers of the last 50 years - hardly a cult writer
he has been a reclusive cult figure for about 40 years now hes enjoying some mainstream coverage.
Thats fine, and I'm glad the klaxons introduced him to a new audience.
so he's not that reclusive or unheard of.
I think anyone who has even a passing interest in books is at least aware of him, and more than likely has read something of his. That's not really the mark of a little known writer.
just because he is interested in personal fame, doesn't mean he isn't hugely acclaimed which he is.
he's taken less than 10-20 years to do a new book this time.
Love his appearances on The Simpsons.
