Presumably it's about the colour of his kit.
the sport that football should look towards for an example of well-behaved players. eh? oh.
football would be much more interesting if it was full contact.
As per, in a rugby thread and in this case before any sensible comments, some football momo gets a dig in
as opposed to making an aforementioned sensible comment?
We expect that sort of thing from brusma, but some of you need to take a long hard look at yourselves
They get punished
Rules in football
Sorry for being a pedant ;o)
i don't think there's anything in football comparable to eye-gouging, so bans like this aren't really applicable to football surely?
It seems to be 'fairly' common place now as well. Didn't some south african cocksucker say it was all part of a man's game? Sicko.
He is the laughing stock of international rugby
Just the increased TV interest in 6N, Heineken Cup and the Premiership has meant that there's more cameras to pick it up - i.e the perpertrators are being caught more often. Which is fine by me.
football players get away with 1 match bans for stuff as bad as this.
Disgusting, as part of a concerted effort by French players to rob Ulster and Ireland of their best player.
Rugby is a hard game, but it's only dangerous if people act like cunts.
I have zero problem doleing out incredibly harsh bans - this is far more encouraging than Burger's 6 week ban for gouging Fitzgerrald on the Lions.
It needs to be clamped down on because gouging has become endemic in French and South African rugby
This is exactly what needs to done with the perpetrators of the vile act within rugby. Along with the 23 week ban for Dulpy, it sends a message that this cowardly act cannot and will not be tollerated. Personally, I'd have seen him banned for life
Kind of makes a mockery of the 8 weeks for "Cock-face" Burger from the summer though doesn't it?
which is 2 weeks less than the RFU recommend minimum ban for even making accidental contact with the eyes.
i'd like to think that this both sends out a very strong message that eye gouging has no place in rugby and sets a precedent for any future bannings.
.... to a more well known player (like Burger) if he had committed the crime. I think not, and that is what disappoints me. The lack of consistancy
The problem is, the IRB is well flakely, terrified of upsetting certain key members.
The ERC however, loves dishing out a meaty ban
I guess the hardest part is proving intention given that it mainly happens in the obscured depths of a ruck, but anyone who does that isn't needed in the game.
I'd be terrified of my finger coming out of their socket with their eye actually impaled on one of the joints.
I've actually got a bit of a weird thing about eyes - I've watched Slumdog Millionaire twice and both times I've had to turn away when they scoop the kids eye out it freaks me out so much. Even my wussy gf didn't do that. Ditto in Un Chien Andalou when they slice the eye...
I don't mind rubbing my own eyes so hard it squeaks, but the idea of even putting in a contact lens makes me feel a bit weird. No eye touching please, I'm British.
For a guy who claims to have seen about three films ever, two of which are Titanic....how are you aware of 16 minute surrealist film from the 20s?
One of the single most unpleasant things that's ever happened to me.
In France, it's de rigeur. I read an extract of some journeyman English player who ended up in France. He said it happened all the time. Once he got so angry, that he gouged another player. Feeling awful he approached him after the match to apologise. To his incredulity, the player just shrugged and went "That's the game"
it's such a cowardly move - it can only really be done to a player who is trapped and can't defend himself
I've been thinking about getting this, has anyone read it?
Must get around to reading it soon
