cards v saints
one more converted TD and it's the most points ever scored in a post-season first half.
expect the Saints can defend.
im disappointed but not surprised. the saints weren't 13-0 for nothing
both defenses seem pretty tight.
but manning is playing incredibly so far. rice seems to have been shutdown so far, and flacco hasn't been on for most of the season - he'll have to step up and make some passes if the ravens are going to win. if they're 14 points behind at the half and it falls on flacco then the colts will definitely go on to win.
Vikes Cowboys should be a good'n.
Damn Cardinals. Sad. But wow did Warner get LIT up or wut. BLADOW.
Hopefully today's games should be better. Dallas and San Diego to win, though I hope neither do.
I hate the Saints. Such a boring team, no players who really light it up. Does the sadness I'm feeling right now make me a Cardinals fan?
But mostly they're so functional to watch. It's like a machine or something most of the time. Like watching the Cowboys without the 'oh shit, what's gonna happen next' element. I just don't think they're very exciting is all. The Cardinals, now there's an offense that gives me the horn.
You obviously want to see a lot of points, (i personally love watching to solid D's getting after a qb) and the saints have done this. The Cards are just one sided, they have no D and wouldn't have beat any of the playoff teams.
It's a team effort rather than flashes of individual brilliance. There's no-one who particularly stands out except for the aforementioned Brees and Sharper. Case in point is just how many receivers they have who can get the job done. Which seems to be their motto to a degree.
I dunno, I just always like teams who always look like they could pull something amazing out of absolutely nowhere. I knew the Cards would get beaten up because they're not as good a team, but that makes me like them all the more. Underdog spirit etc. Whatever happens, I hope the Cowboys or Vikings beat the Saints next round.
They're just not, the 'aints are an underdog frachise, this season won't change that. Bush is an incredible player and would be 1st choice in every team except one. Colston came from nowhere last year, he's a real good receiver again would make it into most teams now. Just not sure on your perspective here.
Looking forward to the cowboys in minnesota tonight, really can't decide who i expect to win it. Chargers will win.
Go Chargers! No, go Jets!
it's a lot easier if you just have one ; )
I'm Falcons fan, don't mind the ravens, and have preferences but only in a i'd rather see Man U win than Liverpool kind of way.
I'm going on who I feel saddest about watching going out this year. So far, Cardinals have it. I don't like seeing Kurt upset. It breaks my heart.
38 years old and a quarterback and you still go right in for the tackle knowing you're probably gonna get flattened. Guy's an all-american hero.
i have a fitzgerald jersey. :D
My heart is broken every year.
If it's Dallas, I hope New Orleans stuff them.
i can't see manning not winning this year though. he was unbelievable last night - the ravens secondary were up on the receivers the whole game and manning found the tiniest gaps to make passes.
Doing well so far.
following my 4 and 0 last week, I'm looking at 3 and 1 this week.
I want the Vikings to win, but I'm having a small bet with a friend, and I'd predicted the Cowboys. Bollocks.
that's that then.
I'm not liking the omens of that missed FG
Jets offense havn't done much so far. This weekend has been boring! Boo!
Philip Rivers, you ungainly looking bastard, I love you.
and their oh so wonderful defense hasn't been amazing either.
Though it pains me to say it, I think the Chargers are going to shit all over them in this game.
OK so that's partially San Diego shooting themselves in the foot but still.
There's been nothing on offense from the Jets though - have they even ventured into the red zone at all?
They started to look a bit more comfortable towards the end of the second quarter though. Let's see what they can do after the restart *fingers crossed*.
First half's almost over and 'shit all over' seems a bit extreme on the evidence thus far. That said, I'll still take this lot over the New Jersey Jets any day.
P.S. 2-0 on my picks from last week so far. I'm like a genius.
That's no way to get to the playoffs.
this game certainly turned around.
MAN UP CHARGERS
please, Phillip, please. for everyone, the Jets cannot make the Championship game.
3-and-out and they'll have under 90 seconds to get to about the 34, because kaeding can hit 52 yards.
two great teams full of character.
and I think they're going to go for it. Hail mary style.
That took a lot of balls. A lot.
but i can't for the life of me understand how the jets are in the championship game. the dolphins made them look very average, and the dolphins were terrible at times this season. they've taken the chance in fairness to them, but i'm shocked they've made it. here's hoping manning puts 50 past them.
they did it to the Bengals, they did it to the Chargers.
I think the only team left who can beat them is the Vikes, going by that performance. So I think we'll be saying goodbye to the Colts next weekend.
and manning found gaps where 30 or so other team quarterbacks would have turned the ball over. and the jets struggle to put up more than 20 points consistently, it won't be enough to top the colts. sanchez has not convinced me yet, he was 12/23 for 100 yards today which shouldn't be taking a team to a superbowl. it will come down to stopping greene and jones and if the colts can do it they'll win comfortably.
but they really proved me wrong tonight. Jets all the way.
look forward to dissecting next sunday's game!
Charger's were one of my favourite teams pre-Rivers era, but he's such a twat that i don't like them anymore.
i went 3-1 this weekend only one i got wrong was the Vikes game, but i only chose cowboys cause i wanted rematch of teams that spoiled perfect seasons on both sides.
I'm going to pick Saints and Colts for next week. I truly believe that the Colts would be an even better team if they never ran the ball. Peyton is just so accurate, almost all his passes were into tight coverage against the Ravens, and even the incomplete ones were more often than not the receiver's fault. i Think the Colts v Jets game will be reminiscent of the Colts game against the Ravens, where Indy builds a 10-14 pt lead before half time and the Jets are forced to throw the ball. I really think that the Colts defense doesn't get enough credit, they took care of Rice and McGahee, who consistently got key first downs a week ago against the Pats. The only real chance i see the Jets having is if they get a big play early on, or if their special teams has 1 or 2 big plays, because the Colts biggest weakness seems to be Punt/Kickoff returns.
i never understood why the Chargers would fire Marty Schottenheimer and replace him with Norv Turner, the dude can't coach for shit.
headbutting an opposing player, kicking the challenge flag! What were they thinking. And their poor field goal kicker will probably have to walk around San Diego with a paper bag on his head for a while. Great win for the Jets, but the Colts will be a tough one for them to beat,
Cardinals were steam rollered and seeing as i support them, i had to pick them, even when i knew they were going to get raped.
SD were quite undisciplined, so many penalties that were basic.
I fancy the Vikings to go all the way now, just to see favre do his stuff in miami. Plus the saints are annoyingly german about their play.
And I want the Jets over the Colts. Just for shits and giggles. But i think the Colts will get it.
Q. What the FUCK were the Chargers doing?
A. The same thing they do every year.
but I really do fancy the Jets to get to Miami.
