and don't have medical sleep problems or illnesses
LAZY FUCKING SHITS
I think I'll have a nap at my desk right...now.
i just woke up
I suppose most people stop napping from when they're a baby until when they're retired?
These people are fools. Tired fools.
stop at about 4 and don't start again until 70ish
i have the occasional nap.
you should be at work or doing something
i work hard enough, i look after my daughter (along with mrs ccb) and i'll nap when i need to. cheers.
this mainly aimed at students/nonstudent 20 somethings who have shit all going on and just have naps as if that's a normal acceptable way for a young adult to spend their day
after a hard week at work.
(although technically speaking, i'm not in my MID twenties and i am currently ill, but i'll nap when i'm not ill as well)
you've got it all wrong
and you know what? I don't give a single, solitary shit. So there.
unless i'm sleep deprived or ill.
but ^this all the same
if I do then I just feel like shit until I have a proper sleep.
I do this all the time, mainly at work. In fact I dozed off halfway through reading your post.
Just because you don't feel the cold or need sleep, stop belittling us you geordie ubermensch.
my dad had one at the table between dinner and dessert at xmas.
before kids ruin your life
- Woke up from power nap.
- Saw this thread.
i'd go mad wih boredom/tiredness if i didn't nap.
read one of the great novels you haven't got around to yet
play computer games
go for a walk
meet a friend for tea
read the paper
do some sport
is that i never seems to wake up feeling refreshed. i just feel groggy, grumpy and need a good cup of tea before i can function again.
so yeah, i don't nap much.
they do make me feel groggy. but sometimes (especially after spending half the night trying to get a baby to sleep) they are necessary.
little un has slept from 8 til 8 since 4 months. Jealous ?
ours isn't too bad sleep-wise - has been sleeping through til past 5 since about four months, and now usually sleeps through from just after 7 til 6ish (doesn't usually wake before 5.30; sometimes gets through til 7). so yeah a bit jealous, but we're alright with our lot. i have friends whose babies still wake up four times a night. they must do a lot of napping.
It's a strange phenomenon. My jaw always feels weird whenever I wake up from a nap.
But then 4 o clock creeps up again and the temptation of a blissful post-wank ephemeral snooze is very difficult to turn down.
just remembered my job where i had a nap in my chair after lunch every day.
afternoon sat upright in front of his PC. He got away with it for months until management had a word.
until the day the toilet roll slipped off and I smashed my face into the metal prong of the holder.
That one was kinda hard to explain.
where i had to go the lavs for little 10 minutes naps throughout the day
I need to have a proper long sleep or nothing at all, naps never produce the desired result and mess up my sleep patern. If I'm awfully tired then I'll just go to bed early, or have a coffee to keep me awake until it's a sensible time to sleep.
Power naps have been found to increase memory retention, presumably by the same mechanisms sleep does - allowing for the transfer of information from the brainstem and medullary regions to the hippocampus.
I trust this settles the argument.
