so let's nip today's whining about the cold and the miserable weather in the bud before it gets started, yeah?
I am officially bored of this snow.
the speculation surrounding your opinion of the current climate was too much to bear
i've added Astana to the little tab on the side of my screen that tells me what the temperature and weather is. maybe i'll keep updating this thread over the coming days and weeks. it can be DiS' Official Kazakhstan WeatherWatch
was more important that acknowledging a joke from a film i'm too lazy to have watched
and shove it up your bum.
and leave us to whinge about the snow and ice.
i would like to move there. i even started doing one of those "teach yourself Russian" cassettes in the hope that i could be good enough at Russian to get a job in Astana
i lasted about a week. coincidentally, that's probably how long i'd last in Astana
I'm not sure what's worse, extreme heat or extreme cold.
It was 15,000,000C on the sun last night
But I bet she has cold feet.
it's just a story made up to scare children
something which doesn't seem to have happened in edinburgh
or some sort of nuclear winter.
I'm using that as my excuse as to why I'm still in bed.
but my usual cycle route to the station is impassable because the four inches that fell on friday night still haven't melted.
i would like either (a) a thaw or (b) enough snow to stop the trains from running. thanks
Hey, snow! 'Bout time you thought about fucking off, yeah? Cheers.
It was lovely.
Hill is open but Bathwick Hill, Widcome Hill and North Road are all either impassable or have been closed. No buses are running to the University as a result.
The bus companies will start running buses as soon as Bathwick Hill opens. Although snow is currently falling on campus, the forecast is for temperatures to lift shortly and for no further snow later today. It is therefore expected that the University can be open as normal later today.
An update will be posted by 10am, at which point we hope to be able to ask staff to come into the University. The University's severe weather helpline (a recorded message) will also be updated on 01225 383200.
Those who decide to come onto campus should take great care as roads and paths are slippery.
For those who are on campus, the Fresh shop will open at 9am. The Blues Café will open at 8am, the 4 West café at 9am and the Parade Bar at 10am. The Sports Training Village is 6am. The Library will be open, with self-service facilities available.
Did you read that? It's slippery. SLIPPERY. How is man supposed to live his life freely if he cannot simply walk down a path way without risk of certain DEATH?
i was cold, but now i'm just angry at brusma for being twasok
one of the monsters from that Avatar film?
how do you think poor Dmitry Dzagoev feels, freezing on the streets of Astana at night?
you heartless bastard
it was colder than that along the coast from me
put some gloves and a hat on if you're cold
maybe a scarf too
you could even wear an extra t-shirt!
people are pathetic
think how bad it could be. you could be in ASTANA
we get this nearly every year
it's only fucking snow
at the moment we've had snow in most of the country for almost three weeks now. considering this i think public infrastructure is holding up pretty well.
i'm not really having a go at the infrastructure, it's more the patheticness of some of the people (i.e. my colleagues in England) who can't get to work because they are "snowed in". useless bastards. GET BACK TO WORK
Toronto had to call in the army to help dig it out a few years ago. TORONTO, CANADA: SNOW FAIL.
I think that gives me SOME grounds for complaint
... I have life-drawing classes to model for
I've worked outside in -43.
Lift Operations - Mount Norquay - Banff, Alberta - January 2003
going "oh, dont complain of the cold, its 40 below in siberia!" or something. and then someone in siberia saying DONT COMPLAIN YOU POOFS, ITS ?273.15 IN SPACE, YOU DONT SEE THE MARTIANS COMPLAINING
-41C in Yakutsk
it's warmed up considerably in Astana as the day progresses and is now a positively balmy -16C
It's dropped to -21C in Astana as night arrives
Yakutsk is still -41C
hur hur hur
in the last few days though it's gone up to about -7/8, i feel like going to the beach or something!
it's a lot warmer in Astana today, -11C. although it is snowing
chilly temperatures forecast for the weekend and start of next week - Sunday and Monday aren't expected to get about -27C and could well be as cold as -34C
it's currently -38C in Yakutsk
not -22? strange
and we just can't deal with cold weather
it is -26C in Astana today
that's fucking cold
god they are so lucky to have the weather as a subject to talk about at LEAST. GAWD.
as i understand it, it's much worse due to wind chill. have you factored that into your astana readings?
it's warming up in Astana now. -9C and it's a bright, sunny day
in my coat and scarf. It's +12C inside. brrrr.
it's snowing in Astana, but it's only -4C. they can see the end of winter, so they can
