that's all really.
6 music puts up the pretensions of being good.
Adam and Joe, Freakzone and Gideon Coe are all great.
Don't listen to it in daytime though.
how many times do you have to hear Chris Moyles call himself "the saviour of morning radio" or Zane Lowe call himself "the saviour of new music" (or whatever) to believe otherwise?
Re: 6music - I don't listen to it loads but it's alright. Good for having on if I'm doing some decorating or something. Better than Virgin Radio or whatever it's called now, anyway.
it’s still better than radio 1
but not as good as radio 4
in terms of a nationwide, has to appeal to the 'alternative' mass market think it's pretty good. Except George Lamb of course.
Compare it to xfm, then thank our lucky stars.
1994: Superchunk, Pavement, Archers of Loaf, New Kingdom during the breakfast show!
Nice presenters, the station isnt up their own arse like alot of the BBC. Good music thats quite varied. Not a bad listen...
hell knows why they called it that!
NME Radio usualy has some really good stuff on and the presenters aren't as unbearable as one would imagine. Passion Pit are currently on now apparently
search nmeradiolive in lastfm and you can see all the songs theyve ever played. Its nice how they all like music and have opinions...plus they pick songs they like to play.
Oh yea jon richardson is good on 6music :)
i used to love listening to jon richardson!
guy garvey...jarvis cocker...lauren laverne...marc riley...gideon coe.
all good stuff. some bad shows, some good shows.
it's the same with every station. radio 4 is wonderful a lot of the time but then jenny eclair will come on in a drama/'comedy' about the menopause shattering any illusions you had of the stations untainted glory.
swings and roundabouts.
listen to it pretty much every day, whilst making a fried egg sandwich or ten.
its nice forming opinions on music you maybe haven't heard before. e.g unsigned bands
& some times the presenters slate tracks they've been told to play, either buy the public
or the big british castle. which seems to seem, as if they have some sort of subjective viewpoint.
6 music. its alright.
It's alright whilst I'm eating my breakfast or having a shit.
they didn't get rid of it.
it's not perfect, but a few weeks ago they played broadcast, curtis mayfield, cocteau twins and cabaret voltaire in the same hour and (after five years of being driven insane by provincial cheese fm) it felt like heaven.
i stuck the sausage on bread under the grill with loads of cheese on it, heard Fyfe Dangerfield do some new solo stuff live, then stuck in a fried egg. then they played some killing yoke i think.
and adam and joe are the cherry on top :)
does everyone hate george lamb?
he makes me chuckle!
but it can be an astonishingly boring, wet-fart of a station at times.
and i don't like much of the humour (except for a+j)
it were r'lly good yeste'ay
