But YAY YAY YAY
I'm totally smart <3
Cause I'm old and stuff. It seems so nice, a bit away from the city centre, so less cyclists/tourists problems but a pretty good distance. I am going to have to work SO hard this year. And I'm going to love it for sure <3
I probably need to expand though. Talk about Cambridge. University or city. Do you get used to the cyclists eventually?
Cyclists: twats (apart from me)
Portland arms sadness: see relevant thread
The city's lovely, the bus service is pants.
They just cycle anywhere, not even in a vaguely straight line, never indicate, cycle side-by-side, slow so they can have conversations etc.
I'm worried I might lose cycling competency being there :-(
Well if you live in Cambridge, you develop a cyclist sense.
Probably from getting bitten by radioactive bikes or something.
A bit stuffier than Oxford, perhaps, but the city is really nice.
They keep on closing their music venues down though: http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4211995
Oh yeah, Congratulations!
The respective van/hatch of life and death are the greatest purveyors of fast food known to man.
DONT go to Bolare
DO go to CB2
Do visit nearby Ely for the Cathedral.
A special burger should be kebab AND burger, not like... A burger and salad.
And thanks :-)
And I'll tell you this: Ely 'does' any single other cathedral in the entire country. Just wait until you see it, then come back here and tell me I was so very right.
Obviously that is very excellent. I don't like Cambridge as a city though, it strikes me as being very grey.
what subject is that? i tried maths at oxford and got an interview and got rejected. but oh well...
or Asian & Middle Eastern Studies, whatever.
Sorry about Oxford, although even getting an interview there is impressive. It's not like Cambridge where they just interview everyone. Know where you want to go?
i know that sounds silly, as japanese is spoken by over a hundred million people or whatever. but yeah :)
my first choice now is warwick. which is up there with oxford for maths, so not a huge disappointment.
"... Studies" degrees always sound rather pathetic.
Well done! I used to have a weird thing against Warwick - despite it being the best university I received an offer from (when I applied for History in '06), and my favourite course, I totally ignored it. All because one person I disliked went there. I'm so glad I didn't go to university back then. I really was an idiot.
you can now stop wasting your intelligence on here.
ps. I am not obnoxious
good luck with it all
not as good as oxford, of course, but a reasonable second best option ;).
(according to league tables)
It's a nicer city, too. And my big sister lives there <3
Because the pace of the language teaching for beginning Japanese at Cambridge is so fast
and the atmosphere so tense, and because it is unusual for the Faculty to admit a candidate
without an A-level in a foreign language, this offer is subject to your making a substantial
amount of progress in Japanese language before you come in October. We will not ask you
to complete an A level in the language before October, but a significant amount of work
toward that goal will be necessary in order to demonstrate your ability to handle the
language and to prevent your falling behind in the first term. Please could you contact (person) upon receipt of this letter to discuss with her the
amount and type of work that will be necessary.
I'm quite happy to spend all my spare time working on it.
It's the best.
