Should we encourage them? Or is it better to class them as fire hazards and have done with it?
...and it seems that there's little to be done about obesity. So why can't we curb it another way? Consider the "leper bells" - what if we do something similar with the unnecessarily large, to warn people there is a public nuisance afoot?
ethnic minorities, homosexuals, pensioners and disabled persons?
Because that's what's implied in your rather snide closing paragraph. Fat people are the "same" as people who have no choice over their psychological/physiological traits? Seriously?
obesity in the UK are the main threat to the continued existence of the NHS in the UK, mainly because obese people are higher risk across the board in terms of other illnesses (although mainly cancers). David Cameron has already made allusions to future changes in healthcare to account for 'personal responsibility.'
I'd much rather take the route of "here's the advice, now do what you want" like you say but I'd rather safeguard the NHS if possible.
which is why it gets the stick that it does. In part it is down to genetics, but it can't be compared with things such as someone's sexuality, their skin colour or whether they are disabled or not, as no one HAS to be fat.
It's not strictly accurate to say that it doesn't affect you, or anyone else though, a study by the National Audit Office has estimated that obesity costs the NHS at least £500m a year - and the wider economy more than £2bn a year in lost productivity.

it's the skinnies i don't trust. Shifty, the lot of them
I don't like the ones that skirt around the issue though
Really? Even the women?
and i wouldn't let my self get big. it's about education... but there is a certain part of the population that it won't change. think of it like smoking - everyone used to do it, now it's less. it also worked with drink driving. all it will take is a few more years of it and then people will choose to stop.
except douchebag and brusma
please mash the keypad to order a dialling wand.
Sweeping generalisations. They're great. Never wrong too.
It's the bulky rugby player types that can shove past with a bit of physical prescence that often get the best spots.
we pay more tax through buying more food, we are struck down by heart attacks in our 40's rather than limping into old age and longterm chronic illness and dementia, if anything everyone should be fat
Admittedly, that only really includes fresh stuff.
Are all taxed as luxury items I think
