Is this rude?
I'm a an architect and project runner for a major house extension project. I come onto site this morning to investigate the progress and the work that has been done. Upon walking up to the house, I can see the garage door is wide open and so is the front door and the decorator and electrician and working away inside.
I step up to the front door and knock on it while standing outside. The decorator tells me the client is in the lounge which is the first door on the right, so I take two steps in (the door is open), knock on the lounge door and pop my head round after I hear a hello. She's on the phone, I don't want to get dusty shoes on her carpet so I gently wave and then stand in the hallway waiting.
While waiting, I start checking on the staircase details and taking a few photos. Anyway, when she eventually comes out, I get declared rude for just waltzing into someone's home and walking round. I'm a bit taken back, so I apologise and say that I wasn't aware that I was being intrusive.
Now, question, is that rude? I feel it's been a bit of a character assassination and to be fair it's been the straw to ruin my day.
