let's poke fun at them
My mind is boggling. It's like a forum full of Cliff Richards. I feel so sorry for those people, and also a little bit jealous of them.
Cliff is gay. Lives with a priest.
I had it on fairly good authority that he was a proper eunuch! (well, not necessarily castrated, but born without the equipment).
Last night/today I dreamt that I was world lemon drizzle cake baking champion and when I spoke to my mum earlier, I told her this quite confidently. Dream/realitysmash, as ever.
Though that might've been the rohyhpnol
but definitely not asexual.
Denies being gay.
'How do you know if you're "squishing"?'
You're actually all morons. What the hell could be wrong with that?
I'm sure someone will lay pipe in your burger soon. It'll be hot - trust me.
why are you rushing to "poke fun at them"?
This would be a good point were it not for the fact that no-one has done this.
... so hows the anime obsession going
i dont actually understand this. asexual would mean they dont get boners at all, but they still get boners... just not for any obvs reason? wut
this is so confusing
Asexuality would seem to encompass a variety of things. For one thing, I thought asexuality referred to the ability to reproduce without fertilisation - which obviously can't be applied to human beings.
But in this context it's anything from 'people who don't get sexually aroused by anyone or anything' to 'people who feel sexual arousal but for one reason or another, can't go the whole way', which by many standards, can be seen as a problem to be corrected. And even a cursory glance at that website will show members who share this attitude - or at least moan enough to suggest they share it.
One thing it is not however, is an intentional abstention from sexual activity - that's celibacy.
Do you think homosexuality any different? If someone is unhappy with it, then whatever, but the majority of people are quite content, and just get annoyed by the idiots who like to doubt it or make stupid jokes.
Of course it isn't. Nobody is suggesting it is...
It's a problem to be corrected because a good proportion of people on that site appear to be people who want to have sex (or at the least, feel sexual feelings for things), but for some reason can't - as opposed to true asexuals who feel no sexual arousal and are presumably happy with that; in which case - why sign up for an asexual message board to endlessly chat about that which they're supposedly happy about?
For those people (the minority), sure. Like you say, that kind of forum is going to be mostly visited by people who do have a problem with it. But that doesn't make asexuality "a problem to be corrected" for the majority. And why not go on a forum with people of similar lifestyle -- it might be something you don't generally have a problem with, but it's likely most still get frustrated over things etc. There are tons of forums like that for all different kinds of people.
he was referring specifically to 'people who feel sexual arousal but for one reason or another, can't go the whole way', which surely covers all the people you are now talking about. And I agree with Stealthy: that doesn't sound like asexuality, it just sounds like chronic shyness, which I think, most people would agree, is a problem to be corrected.
in my defense, it wasn't especially clear.
if someone had no sexual orientation which is another one of the definitions of asexual they wouldn't feel any sexual desire at all and consequently wouldn't experience any form of arousal.
sexuality not relating to the 'self', which doesn't exactly work, but otherwise you'd need a million categories and it would get silly.
If they could do that, they wouldn't have an issue.
