I'm looking for something disturbing and frightening rather than gore-streaked. Any tips?
stephen king rates her as one of the most important horror writers EVER.
He's really descriptive - brilliant at painting a truly gore-filled/horrific picture in your mind. The Rats, Domain, Lair are all worth reading. Plus The Fog, Sepulchre, The Jonah, '48.
well, most of Herbert's are disturbing as well! The Rats properly shit me up.
But I've read their stuff to tatters.
i am Legend.
ignore that crappy movie
My friend is releasing his first novel in March - THE LEAPING by Tom Fletcher.
Its pretty dark!!
Or are you not at liberty to say?
or google his name and book title for some alternatives :)
Kind of a Shaun Of The Dead type deal.
mostly because of the fact that he's able to make scenarios which are based in fantasy and the supernatural seem not only realistic but also terrifying.
that's one of the most amazing things ever created
It's like The Wire set in an alternate dimension.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lottery This is short and brilliant
He's a horrible writer. Is that the same thing?
What I mean to see is "a trillion willion times ^this" its the most disturbing book you'll ever read, and the best one too.
Lovecraft is good too.
