i am creating a list of things i want to do before december 31st 2010
call it a new years resolution or whatever, but basically a giant list of things i want to do. these include some pretty important things such as:
- get employed (have been unemployed for over a year now)
- achieve at least a 2:1 this year in university
- pay off any immediate debt (loans from friends, credit cards etc.)
some things i have really wanted to do for a while:
- create a short film
- release 'i am an optimist once' (my drawing thing)
- knit a cardigan
- leave the country
and some pretty mundane things such as:
- meet sadpunk from drownedinsound
- watch all three lord of the rings films, extended editions, in one sitting
- meet a household name
and some pretty ambitious things:
- win something (i never win anything)
- visit a new place every month
- read 50 books
now, discussion topics. have you ever made a list like this? how did it work out? do you have any suggestions for this list? how well do you think you would stick to a list like this?
ambitious.
oh yes
but i am generally super lazy and actually want to make use of my time properly as i have a lot of spare time.
I've already done most of those things
so next year I'll probably just sit around a bit
some of them i have done in my lifetime
but not in the past several years.
you want to knit a cardigan too!!
I'm starting my first one over Christmas with my mam I'm so excited! Other than that I want long hair in a year's time and to be doing super super well on my degree. And if I don't go to Paris next year I'll be very very upset. Good luck with your ventures!

yes!
i'm really excited too, i know how to knit but the only things i've done before are scarves, so its gonna take some time and effort and will probably be shit but it will be MINE!
I've already met sadpunk
MASSIVE LETDOWN
don't say that :(
:D
he's not as tall as he thinks he is, is he
how tall does he think he is?
is he
i've heard he 'minces' a bit
is this true?
yep.
Good rack though.
In my mind, he thinks he is about 6ft tall
is he?
No
I think he thinks he is about 8ft tall.
Is he? NO.
I'm only about 5'4" or something so I pay as little attention to height as possible :D
i'm like 6'3
so this'll be fun!
Sadpunk
probably comes in somewhere inbetween those heights.
PROBABLY
...
Secret to success: Plan nothing.
How come you've been out of work for over a year?
I've been on t'dole for 6 months, though.
'trying' to live off of student loan
and just been unable to find a job really. i haven't been trying too hard to find employment until recently mind.
Yeah but a student loan wouldn't cover you for a year, would it?
Try and find some bar work. I went to four interviews yesterday after falling into a similar lull. Just trying to find work makes you feel much more in the mood for working.
yeah that's basically my aim
i've applied for 15 jobs so far, heard back from a few but no interviews as of yet.
I want to make a film!
But I'm no good at writing films, so someone write me a film then I will shoot it and edit it and then run off into the sunset with it.
just film that process
and then you don't even have to write a film, because the film that is being written doesn't need to exist, and then you have a film within a film but the film isn't a film, and that's your film.
DURRRR
why did you have to say that?
my mind is as confused as it was after I watched Mullholland Drive.
Read Breakfast at Tiffany's before NYE
It's only 100 pages, and it'll put you in a good reading mood for your 50 books.
- do well with uni and crap
- be cooler
- avoid killing myself
I'll try and do those things too
making lists is pretty much my favourite thing
my list for the general future basically =
pay rent without asking family for help (not going to happen)
get a job
go back to uni
don't drop out of uni (again)
I dont even want to think about next year
this past year has been a complete limbo between one era, well and truly dead, and the next, been restlessly waiting and now its here and ive got no real excuse to not to do things I think i'll miss this comfortable limbo and think the future can only be a bad place. But yeah my reluctant plans for 2010 is move to london and see what happens.
