nightmare on elm street:
cant be a good idea
Looks like it'll make stuff like Van Helsing look like Ingmar Bergman.
Then I can't describe how much I'm despairing about the 'remake' of Red Riding.
Also Cowboy Bebop (with Keanu Fucking Reeves.) I hate the whole concept of remakes, it's so arrogant of hollywood to make their own versions of things, like they're some sort of superior art form, when in fact they're right at the bottom of the pile. Fuck remakes.
let me in:
to be a castrated boy.
scarred genital-less crotch shots in it
i thought they were basing it more on the book, and it's kind of a huge plot point. Hopefully there'll at least be some rape zombie action to make up for it.
than genital mutilation.
but honestly i can't imagine how the film could be better than the original (which was adapted by the author). it was perfect, stripped the plot down to it's rawest and most fragile. one of the few films adaptations i can confidently say i by far prefer to their source material
I only read the book after seeing the film, and I was amazed that they'd created such a great film from what read like a generic slasher-type book.
Also, I'm sure I read something about how they're going to make Eli a girl called Abbie or something in the US version..
It was called Firefly
there is nothing inherently bad about remakes, but it is essential that they are good.
Repo Man doesn't need to be remade.
a lot of remakes can be real interesting to watch, at least in a geeky kind of way. like, i recently watched gus van sant's remake of psycho, and though it's not a great film in itself, it was pretty funny to see how and why they'd done things differently, including things that weren't really possible to do in the original
