some authors i like say good things about her but the cover illustrations on her books always look a bit lame
She's probably most famous for the 'Ripley' novels (especially since the films came out) and for writing Strangers On A Train. That might make it sound like she's all plot and no prose, but it's not the case.
or should i just check out whatever we have in stock at work and dive right in?
Start at the beginning and finish at the end, I guess.
far darker than the films make out. one of the few series to successfuly develop an anti-hero over a number of books without the plot ending up strained to the point of absurdity.
read 'small g: a summer idyll'. I bought this in a charity shop recently. It's one of the few books I've just given up on reading, due to it being boring and shite.
I've only read the first Ripley book otherwise, and I really enjoyed it.
especially the first one.
