but i don't know what.
It should just read:
Right, my sister found out I smoke so it's time to give up.
VERY LONG WINDED ATTEMPTED EXPLANATION BELOW:
If there are two commas you should be able to take them both out and the sentence will remain intact but without the added details
I had a pizza, topped with jam and anchovies, that was very plain
could just read:
I had a pizza that was very plain
but that doesn't work with the title which, without the commas, would read:
Right so it's time to give up
which doesn't work as there's a comma missing.
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL PEDANTRY 82
I've now learnt the mechanics of the grammar that I use without thinking about it.
I thought siblings were meant to be cool about this stuff. It's not like your parents finding out you smoke who can trot out the old "I'm just disappointed. I thought we had raised you better" bullshit.
Though I mind you smoke Mayfair, sheeldz, so perhaps it's for the best.
As for tips on quitting: just don't buy any.
my nextdoor neighbour told me in high confidence about her smoking about two years ago and I still haven't decided what to do about it
Unless the other DiSser that I promised it to about 6 months ago pops up and claims it, that is.
It worked for me.
She saw me smoking in the back garden ONCE in my whole smoking career. I lied and said that it was a joint, which she then said was ok, just as long as I wasn't smoking cigs. The jokes on her, I smoke both AND I have athsma!
don't worry mum, it's a bifta not a ciggy !
my mum knows i smoke cigs now and then and that i get high occaisionally, but i don't think she realises that the ratio for a couple of years was about 10:1 in spliffs:ciggs
i started smoking before my older sister. (when i say "started smoking" i mean had smoked on a few occasions, you know what 14 year olds are like) she was so embarrassed by this fact, or the fact that she waited until starting college before taking up the habit, or something like that, that she lied about it to everyone, probably me as well. like, she'd say that she'd started way before. i know this because i read her diary on a regular basis.
fascinating stuff, eh?
